Allow me to share my view: 1) I turned off the I-stop button when it's heavy jam, or when I am queuing to clear the custom. 2) I don't think I'll ever do that. That supposed to have a better safety when you're traveling especially raining day.

Anyone can summarise it ? My experience with power windows is that do not press the opposite direction when the windows are opening or closing. It will jam the windows in vios (manual SFN generation and auto SFY generation) and 2nd generation Honda accord. Dare not try with my new Madza 5. I am so glad this "common sense" does not apply to mazda 5 sliding doors. What a good feature. But I learn this the hard way. Thinking that I would only open 1 sliding door, I parked my car nearer to the wall on the other side. My wife press the wrong button and the other sliding door hit the wall. As the door opens, I dare not stop the sliding for fear of jamming the door because I think it is the same as power windows. I am saying out so that you can stop a "disaster" and park your car right in the middle of the lot. I am interested in this. Anyone good in Chinese, combine orders ? Hi. On widows, My Mazda 2 can switch up and down between directions. So far OK or maybe lucky. No need to stop and press the button again. Regarding to your Mazda 5 when the door hit the pillar, what happens after? The door stops there, return back to close or jam? I usually park quite closed tot he pillar on one side, either left or rightside, trying to create a bigger space for the center car. So sliding door need certain opening thickness for clearance. But as most forummers mentioned , the sound would last at most for 25-30 secs max... I think it has also something to do with a cold start in the morning... also , when moving off from gear 1-4 , I could hear/feel the gear change which is not heard in my previous GLX ( 6 years old ) . as its largely due to the fact that its being driven by gear chain , rather the timing belt/chain . ..which is why in some vehicles the gear change sound its not heard so clearly as the sound would be the same throughout moving ... That was what the technical guys told me. (its different from conventional CVT transmission ) Ultimately, we do not have to change our timing belt (we do not have it in the first place) , during 80-100K , where we can save some doughs on that!!

Hi, just to share that I used to loathe the i-Stop feature as it was also cutting off the engine for abt 2-3 seconds each time, which in my opinion is more wasteful than fuel-saving. My aircon setting was the cause of that, and after I changed the preset temp to 24 deg instead of 22, fan speed still at level 2, the engine now cuts off for much longer, sometimes more than 10 secs. I now leave the i-Stop on as I'm pretty sure it's saving rather than wasting fuel, and I must say I've grown to like the feeling I get when it cuts off...not many cars can claim to have this special feature! I'm now on my 3rd tank of V-Power, this time it was the new Nitro version which I believe has better performance compared to the previous. In terms of FC, I am now just above half tank and I've managed to clock around 280km, which could mean I may be able to reach 600km on one full tank. That's about 100km more than my previous tank, so its a pretty big improvement. However, this electronic fuel gauge is terribly inaccurate, especially towards the bottom half tank, so I'm expecting a less impressive number. I'm tempted to go back to Esso 95 and see if I can achieve that same mileage or even better. Based on my previous ride, Esso 95 gave me better economy but of course not as much kick when accelerating...:) I've now covered about 1500km in total, and the FC is still way below my expectation for all the technology they've put into this car, but I've heard from several brothers here that it will improve after around 5000km, so I'm looking forward to that.

When I went for my 1K servicing, I checked with the engineer why they don't replace the engine oil. He told me that the car uses specially formulated Mazda Gold synthetic engine oil, and that it only needs to be changed every 10K servicing. Also he says our SkyActiv engine cannot use other brands of engine oil like Shell Ultra or Mobil 1, otherwise engine will spoil...dunno how true but that's from the horse's mouth.
