Watwheels Supersonic May 29, 2014 Share May 29, 2014 Is it the wear & tear of the what ring that caused the tires to have uneven wear? The hub ring wear caused the tires to have too much movement causing uneven wear. Naked eye cannot see. Trust me.

Bandotcom Neutral Newbie May 30, 2014 Share May 30, 2014 I had simillar experience just last Saturday. Driving up to KL thru Tuas checkpoint and everyhing was smooth, stop at Gelang Patah R&R for quick breakfirst. After driving about 5km I felt my steering wheel vibrated but kept driving at 90-100km/h. Stop at one of the petrol kios before Simpang Renggam checked my tyre pressure and slightly reduced the pressure. Visually checked my 4 tyres seem ok.Continue driving and this time the vibration bacame worst, which can only drive below 80km/h. Two weeks before went for tyre rotation the guy told me my tyre still in good condition. Found a tyre workshop in Simpang Renggam and they found out that one of my tyre bulging and the rim warp... Storm88 2nd Gear September 11, 2014 Share September 11, 2014 Hi guys, Happen to see this steering wheel vibration. I had this issue recently and until today I still cannot figure the cause. It started when I changed the brake pad. After changed, the steering wheel vibrate when car go above 90 km/hr. Sent back to agent 2 times and only the second time, the agent thought they had solve the problem by changing new caliber of the brake on the other paasenger side of the car. However, 2 days later i found the back tyre punctured and sent to stamford to patch up. Until today I could had the slightest thought that the vibration could had cause by tyre punctured earlier and not the caliper or balancing. I just feel that experience of the mechanic is important in the after sales market as honestly there are not many nowadays....

When steering wheel sudenly start to wobble/vibrate (if u have not been to WS to have anything done) 1st thing is to do balancing of yr wheels. Did u hit some pot-holes recently? That cud also cause it. Have it checked at WS. Badly balanced wheels cud cause it. Also aftermarket Sports Rims where the center hole is too large for the hub ....U need to put the plastic adapter to make a tight fit so wheel is perfectly center on the hub. Plastic ring only costs abt $5 each. I put one on each wheel, front n back last time. No need to waste money on aluminium rings. The plastic ring is cheap n good enough n can last many many years. If u just had some work done then vibration start, No matter what the mech tell u..... I say it was caused by him. Either change WS or get them to rectify the vibration. Usually lousy mech wil blame everybodys father n mother for the problem n never admit he is a lousy mech.

Oh and another reason why the steering suddenly start to wobble is those small lead balancing weight came off. Always balance all 4 wheels regularly, not just the front 2 wheels. I do mine every 10K km n rotate the wheels at the same time. U protect all the steering n suspension components n tires too. They wil last much longer without having problems. For your tire bulging n rim warp might b caused by hitting a pot hole or kerb. Edited September 12, 2014 by Pisces69
