Supersonic

I've used trajet before, the older model/first generation.

Quite reliable x 1-2 yrs, even drive up to Bt Kayu Hitam.

one of the door lock mechanism "broken" after a year, but easily repaired, not expensive.

Fuel consumption pretty high, around 6km/L if not mistaken.

The seats were very heavy, not practical to move and remove.

Space wise reasonable, 3rd row more spacious than wish/stream.

The Trajet is 2.7 Litre?

Dear guys,

Thank you for the valuable feedback.

I had look thru sgcarmart and noted that the depreciation for korean mpv eg. Trajet and caren yearly depreciate around $7800 and Toyota wish depreciate around $10k.

I had short list either Trajet or Caren due to the price point with COE till mid 2016. Is it 'problematic' to go for this model or should i go for newer car. I do understand used car tends to have problem due this is the risk I have to face since I getting a used car!

Am looking at cash term therefore don't wish to blow off my budget!

Thank you all for sharing your valuable feedback

doubt there r many trajet or carens left in the used car market too..

u may check at sgcarmart..

FC for trajet.. it is a VERY big car .. prob 8 km/l if not worse

for caren,, prob 9 to 10 km/l too..

FC depends on driving style and distance. I suspect trajet could be far worse.

I'm driving a 1.6A Verna and it's most start-stop driving, and I'll be thrilled if i get 9 km/l. For the huge trajet, i'll bet it's going to be at most 7 km/l if it's used on the same pattern as what i'm doing now...

i drove a hyundai atos for abt 3 yr till expiry. Door handle got spoilt, brake switch (i think) spoilt, there was something else quite major spoilt, but can't remember… And my driving pattern on weekdays has been only about 10 km daily. Weekend sometimes longer trips, but mostly not used, as we have another family MPV.

On expiry, changed to 5-yo Verna, now 3 yr+ liao, water pipe got replaced, ABS sensors replaced, cooling coil replaced, etc. My driving pattern is still the same.

My mechanic said old korean cars are like that, solve one problem, good chance another will come…

Hi all MPV guru,

I currently driving a Verna and looking to upgrade my ride to MPV due to expansion of family member.

Am considering Hyundai Trajet and Kia Caren. Could any kind soul be able to advise on the maintenance and also fuel comsumption?

As I do not wish to 'spend' so much on Japanese brand MPV, therefore I looking budget MPV like the korean.

Thank in advance!

I used to won the latest Carens for 3 years. FC was about 9km/L ~9.5km/L. If go C&C for servicing also not very ex, comparable to TCM. Parts can order from those stockists, still remember paying $14 dollars for those aircon filters and change every 6 months. Quite reliable during the 3 years as only once need to replace a ABS sensor. As it is of newer generation of Korean cars, looks wise still quite modern especially the white ones. I definitely have no regrets having it as my first mpv.

Am driving a wish Jan 2007. tested the following:

Renault scenic: nice. like the auto brake feature. the windscreen super big. 3rd row for kids only.

VW Touran: solid feel and quite engine. compact and you sit more upright.

Toyota Wish: most practical. engine a bit noisy. a lot of hard plastic inside.

Kia Sorenta: most luxurious and really solid feel. out of budget.

Mz5: Big on the outside but small inside. dated design. 3rd row is only for kids.

Didn't consider the full size MPV (eg. Biante, Ody, Estima.....) due to cost and usage.

After considering price and practically, I am back to Wish again.

All used car that are more then 5 years old will need a round of parts replacement already.

If the previous owner never change anything, then whoever purchase it will need to replace those where wear and tear parts

All cars will break down if preventive maintenance is not done.

just send for evaluation first before purchasing

How about Ford S-Max? Powerful engine and solid body..

third row not spacious though - only drawback...

also, Ford, and all Euro MPVs, 3rd row seat is 2 separate (not only individual) seats that are not connected. So even in event that you have the need to squeeze in more people, and they are willing to squeeze into 3rd row, cannot have 3 squeeze into 3rd row, unlike eg. wish, stream, etc.

Good for your. Wish is definitely a safest bet. However, having driven wish for years, I just cant bring myself to face the dashboard again. It is dam plastic and old fashion and make me feel like taxi driver at the instant sight.
