Hi all, be getting a MPV this coming july.

Have been considering between mitsubishi grandis , honda odyssey and toyota.

Any comments? I need to ferry my clients from time to time So need something problem free or as low maintenance as possible.

But toyota and honda prices are much higher than mitsubishi so wondering if worth the premium.

Hope you guys can give me some ideas. Thanks

Why mpv? Ferrying many pax?

If yes, 3 row and sliding door shd be on your boxes to tick.

Or if you just want a lux second row?

Which Toyota? Estima, VF, Alfat?

For reasonably priced 7 seater SUV, try Mitsubishi Outlander $123k thereabouts.

For low end MPV, try Honda Mobilio $11xk thereabouts, abit cheapo plasticky interior though.

Isis it is.

Sliding doors. Cheap to maintain. Fold flat 3rd row. Not a fuel guzzler. 15" tyres.

Just saw in sgcarmart that Mz5 listed price is $134k. Maybe some discounts for CNY etc so shld be $125k or more I guess. Outlander still more value n Mobilio is a new model whereas Mz5 abit dated.

Mz5 good in handling but too stiff for comfy seating, sound system not very competent in terms of function n sq. also, did u realize all jap mpv not very facelifted? Outlander look is really love or hate.

but outlander 3rd row really can't make it. mz5 advantage over outlander and mobilio is its sliding rear door which is a must for me for easy access on a mpv.

of these 3, i will go for mz5 for the space that i need.

Yes. If it's needed to ferry goods too, then having sliding doors is very useful. But this is contingent on having to ferry quite a fair bit of goods, in fact stretching over to 2nd row, and needing to fold 2nd row down to accommodate goods too. If it's just the occasional one or two boxes, then probably only need to put in 3rd row's space, in which case sliding door doesn't give much advantage - only the boot comes into play.

BTW, does Isis 2nd row fold down flat too like wish? I've only done it once or twice, but with 2nd and 3rd rows folded down, the wish can carry really long things - bought a 1.8 m tall shoe cabinet and saved on delivery charges 3 yr ago -_-

To be fair, most MPY/SUV 3rd row can't make it unless you get the full MPVs like Alphard, Vellfire etc.

Agreed Mz5 sliding door is a plus [thumbsup] but price abit steep for mid size MPV and also this model getting old.

Bro FS, Mazda cars handling amongst the best for Jap cars so another plus [thumbsup]

isis boot is even longer and deeper than the wish with the last row folded. even if the last row is upright. the boot space is slightly longer. but the penalty is the extra 100kg due to the sliding doors.

Yes, I noticed that Isis is 6 cm longer, 1.5 cm wider and 5 cm taller than wish, and wheelbase is 3.5 cm longer. This is based on the data i collected in 06 before deciding on buying wish.

I had always thought that the 170 kg was due to the slightly more materials (metal) needed since Isis is slightly larger, but you could be right on the sliding doors adding to the weight.

What I didn't understand was Toyota's claim that both Isis and wish have the same FC (stated as 14.4 km/l). Both have the same engines. And since the unladen weight of the 2 is 13% different, how can same engine give same FC???

Saw in sgcarmart that Mz8 is listed as $161k n Biante at $153k. There should be some CNY and celebratory discounts but still too ex in my view. Shape esp the Biante is not my cup of tea.

Actually for those guys who don't mind an ageing model, the Wish is a good choice IMO although I believe this model will be end of life soon. Around $130k for a reasonably sized MPV.

Wow, reasonable price for a good Mid sized MPV!!

Too bad it's abit dated but those with growing family should seriously consider this. The 3rd row whilst not exactly spacious is still better than some other Mid sized MPVs [thumbsup]
