Hi...sorry just hijack the post..I'm new to this forum so I can't start a new post right now.

currently I'm driving a 08 lancer EX..my family include my wife , 5 yrs old, 3 yrs old, 4 months old and a maid.total 6.so if I have a family outing, my family will sit illegally, meaning no child seat and no booster too Cuz a saloon can't fit all.

I will pray not a meet a TP on the road. Most importantly, i'm worried about the safety of my kids when they are not on car seats.

Now I'm wondering what to do next abt my car;

1)keep my current ride until COE mysteriously drop and I can afford a new mpv?

2)change to a 2nd hand mpv?

We all know if COE really drops, it may be a range ard 40k to 50k. Given a decent mpv cost abt 100k, I need abt 50k of downpayment.

If I buy a second hand mpv, my current ride still value from 35k to 40k now.i could used this money for downpayment of second hand mpv. I'm looking at a 2010 mpv...maybe a freed. But one thing for sure, I can't afford a new mpv at this current pricing...even I use the money for my second hand car as down payment.

Pls advise and thanks alot.

really headache.

Use to be a big fan of MPV until I was rear ended recently while waiting for a light. MPV will offer rear passengers especially 3rd row either little or not protection. This is a fact most ppl forget to consider. So just reminding. As 3rd row normally for small kids.

Got some posts say Biante ish very safe so only need 2 airbags.

Say only mah... maybe because it ticks the box of space, convenient and price so have to try very hard to justify the shortfall in safety. Nowadays we see many videos of cars running red light and bang onto others with the right of way. That's side impact, what will happen if the victim is the MPV with only 2 airbag ferrying the whole family with children and elderly? [bigcry]

BTW, I used to drive an ugly Nissan Presage and yes, 8 airbag. Also own a Honda Odyssey EXV Premium, 6 airbag. Now, VW Sharan, Also 6 airbag and all with traction control. [:)]

Excellent Choice!

After owning the Sharan and driven other MPV previously, I truly understand the tagline of being the ultimate MPV. It's a super solid car, great handling, built quality, features, space, performance and not forgetting 5 star EuroNcap rating.

It will be a headache when it's time change in a few years time.

Just curious do you have headache now when you need to send your Sharan to workshop for servicing? You might not need few years to experience it.

My headache came from Nissan Presage. Engine mounting crack, engine gasket leak, shock absorber damage.

Odyssey was good, no headaches. And you'll be surprise, no headache for Sharan as well, so far so good, about 40k mileage.

I've read some of the big hoo haa about VW car problems. It's mainly from the smaller VW cars with 1.4 TSI 7speed dry clutch DSG, the bigger VW cars don't seem to have much complaints.

Tell me more if you own a VW car. [rolleyes]

ha ha... Vdub kena bashed around... But this cannot be helped with all the horror stories.

To be honest, non of the existing MPV really meets all my criteria... Looking forward to the New Estima if it's coming out anytime soon.

sigh… few of the existing MPVs meet all my criteria too… only estima does, but it's quite dated.

was hoping Kia will bring in Sedona but not likely. Want to try convince them? I emailed them before...

I spoken to one of the PI. The facelifted 2015 Estima is out. No significant changes except the front and rear lights. Still only 2 airbags. Price is 1k more than pre fl models. Disappointed....

I sat in the new Honda O. V nice ride and handling with huge interior space. A little pricey.

Will be a great car to head up to Penang with the family.

Given a choice, I will consider in order of priority

1) Honda O

2) Toyota Previa

3) Mazda 8

VW Sharan has 6 speed wet box - the safe one. Well, think again. Friend's 2L Tiguan box just changed on its 5th year at 8K. VW makes great cars....provided they remain moving on the roads.

Tiguan 2.0 tsi uses the newer 7 speed wet box or 6 speed auto in earlier versions

not the 6 speed dsg wet box you are trying to diss

Well, how about all those failed airbags from Toyota and Honda? Killed several people including 1 in Malaysia. Accelerater problem with Lexus (supposingly premium brand by Toyota) also killed several and triggers thousands of recall worldwide and millions of dollars in compensation. How come nobody talk about or even a slight concern?
