if you are willing to spend a little bit more go for Estima

Streamium70, you hit the nail on the head. Head vd heart.

I currently drive a sedan. With growing kids and aging parents, I now need a 7- seater. Hard to decide on mpv or suv because both have pros and cons.

Most practical would be a mpv but my heart says 7 seater suv is a good compromise. Costs is definitely a key consideration. We all know that a vehicle is a liability, not an asset.

I have slightly more than a year more for my current ride's Coe. Hope coe softens further so I can get my 'compromise' :). If not, will be mid size mpv. Wish,Orlando, mazda 5 or PI honda models.

I have spotted a used conti MPV direct sale from an owner, depreciation about $10k+, left with 2 years + to scrap. I am eager to give it a try, hoping by 2017 there is chance of lower COE price.

But I am not sure how to "dispose" my existing Car, left with 8 months to scrap. Any bro there can advise me the approach?

Thank you.

if existing Car no finance loan and buy MPV no finance issue, suggest you keep existing Car till COE end, in term of you will own 2 cars 8 months, because used car dealer don't want to buy 8 months cars, even buy the price is also not much difference as scrap

But if sell direct, sure got pple queue up to buy, as buying from dealers will be high price…

I used to have a friend who every time buy cars with a year left, so he was constantly changing cars… One time bought an old porsche that need to top up water every time before driving off… (that's the drawback…).

old conti mpv imho might be risky, as parts are not likely to be in abundance, but chances of needing some of them is not low. COE should be around $10K? Wah, then it's a very good deal for the owner leh…

Used car dealers will take your car at scrap value telling you that no one will buy

then they will advertise to sell at a higher price saying good for short term use

they got nothing to lost !

if your car already have not more loan, just drive until near scrap then look for new one or 2nd hand car

You got nothing to loss, save up the 8 months money to look for a better car later

8 months alot of thing can happens

my car also same case like you, less then 1 year to scap, see car that i like

Ask dealer about trade in, they all reply scrap value

so, just tong !

For those still hunting, I am now half minds whether to get mpv or suv. Smitten with the X trail. And though many say not good...Citroen Grand Picasso is also nice. But I may end up with a Sorento or Previa (PI Estima).

Can't decide...

Estima is a good choice..... Sit inside my colleague Estima, and realize that it is so spacious and the kids can play inside the car. You can stuff alot things. Suitable for short vacation to Malaysia

You are absolutely right! I asked new car agents, they even said scrapped value with few hundred.. to take back.

Yes, my car loan has been cleared, the only running cost is the fuel and road tax, may be with some servicing jobs if I "tong" till 8 more months.

So are you getting a new/ used car soon?

Precisely, they only take in scrapped cost + few hundred if you get from a new car agents...

Just viewed the car, cmi :(

It's Citroen C4 Grand Picasso. The engine was vibrating and rough when the car was still with gear engaged.

I love the panaromic wind screen, any opinion if this car is reliable?

French cars are seldom reliable in the first place. [:|]

Thanks. I believe the Isis has been discontinued? My current ride is the Isis and I'm looking for an MPV to replace it. Must be sliding doors. The Mazda 5 is too cramped and I do not quite like the layout of the seats in the Biante - esp last row, cannot fold away completely.

Sales man from M9 Automobile at Ubi Ave Auto Megamart called me on Fri that new Isis is in for view.

COE price should be coming down for next few years as you can see that more and more PI companies are bringing back the Japanese car. Honda Freed, Toyota Wish, Noah and Voxy is all available in Spore now.

Noah is good, price is about $S137 000 (Car Times).
