dear parents.

the best thing you could ever give to your children is not monies or properties

but a good solid education so that they could be free to live their life to the fullest.

the propaganda posters will has its effect. perhaps sealing the fate of children from under privileged families.

having received resumes from overseas candidates. all are equip with a minimum degree if not a diploma .yes. even a diploma from university of prata or university of online training. well still counts.

even if your kid decided to be a hawker. let him be an educated one, to say the least.

the little course i went recently, the biggest reward i got out from it was international business connections and yes, my current squeeze. shu qu (lookalike )

never show it to anyone. me think till date non of my colleagues ,knows i went for any course. except inter-course

Education is indeed very important in this kind of extremely competitive and urbanised society.
It is not just the knowledge to enrich yourself but also the knowledge to enrich other people and the society.
However education alone is not enough if you don't go further into analytical thinking and reasoning, since nowadays some kinds of "education" are merely propaganda for whitewashing, not the greater good for oneself.

In many other countries, education is considered a privilege of being able to live with better lives amid of the unbalanced society. Many poor families, like farmers who slog their lives on the fields for life, just to hope they can afford to send their children to university and get a degree, so that they will lead better lives for themselves or come back and gives better lives for the family. Which parent won't want to give the best to their children?

Best is not to have children if you look at how these kind of rubbish propaganda is tarnishing the future generations' lives. So I always urge couples and parents to keep to one or two kids at most, if you decided to have children. Have 1 -2 children within your affordability, financial, time and energy, and give them best you can, especially in education (primary to tertiary). Don't have to be a degree from a prestigious university but enough to be recognised in this society to get a proper job. However if your child really hates studying, probably it's fate and so don't force them into their throats, but rather make them understand the importance of education. Because you as a parent is solely responsible of what your child going to be when they grow up. They can be a hawker or taxi driver if they want, but ensure that they at least get a degree, if they and you can afford. Environment changes fast and a degree is like a passport to respond to such changes in such highly competitive society these days.

So parents, believe what is best for your child and not this rubbish propaganda. We are already disadvantaged competitively by poorly managed influx of younger and educated foreigners, and the males are further disadvantaged in age due to 2 years NS liability. We certainly have not much time for this kind of "look see wait" approach anymore. 25 years old to 40 years old is a short time span. Looking at this whole thing, they care more about quantity than quality. They want more people (more babies) in the country but depriving them getting highly educated?

I have a feeling that these propaganda are slowly sending the country and the future generations into an abyss towards a backward society in future.

Till the day when technology takes over all our work and generates income for our survival while we do not have to work at all, that would be a different approach.

I took this poly route, served NS then ORD, found a job in GLC, on what I've studied.

Monthly pay was $1750, wasn't happy working in the job, not satisfied with the pay.

Went into sales in MNC, after couple of years realised its not the experience that is important, but having a management degree will enhance the opportunity into managerial position.

Joined a SME, Embarked on part-time degree course for 2.5yrs.

Changed job to after graduating.

Then the rest is history.

But I took a longer route than peers, married and have kids later.

Not sure if I took JC route will be faster. Perhaps faster in the 1st 5yrs of work.

In course of working life, attitude is as important as education in order to assume greater responsibility.

I am not sure if I have made the wrong choice by going to poly.

But made the right choice taking a degree.

Turbocharged

I dunno what to say.... there is no future for skill-less Singaporeans in Singapore... with this kinda propaganda brainless washing,.... after old man left, really anything goes now to save their white hides....

Skillfuture is a good idea, like giving cheap outside the job training.. if the company isn't paying for it, like PMP, Big Data, etc.

But having this kind of crappy tagline is utterly irresponsible.

Having a Uni Degree is a basic entry into a decent white collar job.

Try applying PR in even in SG without a degree.. see if one is going to get it.
