TJX Turbocharged June 24, 2014 Share June 24, 2014 Yes 30 June. If not there's no end. As it is, our target of 6000kg has been hit, and already there are many more bros who have pledged. In total, there are 80 bags worth of contribution which I will be collecting this week! Hi boss, dun think I can make it today. Will drop by ur office on sat instead. Btw, Will you be able to share wif us on the 3 tonnes of rice pledged but contribution not collected? Does that mean the total amt of rice collected to date is 9000kg. (Assuming the 3 tonnes comes in) Any excess will go to animal feed? So each home will get 3000kg of rice and whatever contribution collect from now will go towards the cats and the dogs?? I m so happy for the poor animals. 😄 ↡ Advertisement

Yup, you are absolutely right in the understanding! :) Except, even if we do not reach 9000kg, i will still apportion some funds for Madam Wong's Shelter, just that perhaps the home with the smaller number of residents will receive less than 3000kg. And to make it even clearer, 1 of my customers Mr. X has pledged 1 tonne of rice. He will be dropping by this Saturday. Another lady from Wearnes will be dropping by tomorrow and she had raised more than $850, so safely put, I think there's another 1 tonne there. 2 Bros have pledged 10 bags, that's half a tonne there, and I still got a van group who are my close customers who will be coming together as a group to donate. Plus there are also some other customers who have also pledged their support but they are collecting from their colleagues and friends as well! So safely speaking, 9000kg is not an exaggeration :> Edited June 24, 2014 by KLEARKARBON

KLEARKARBON 5th Gear June 24, 2014 Share June 24, 2014 Well done Boss ken!! Great effort and good karma for u! 👍 Trust me bro, Its no great effort at all! All I did was use the internet, wait in my shop, it is really you guys that put in the effort in making this project come true! Good karma will be for all that contributed in all ways! To me, I believe that there is too much negavity in the world today, i just hope that this project can remind us all of alittle compassion and positivity as well as to create an opportunity for all different walks of life to bond together for a common objective.
Porche 5th Gear June 24, 2014 Share June 24, 2014 Just my thoughts, will it better that the excess be distributed to the rental flats folks than to animal feeds.
kobayashiGT Internal Moderator June 24, 2014 Author Share June 24, 2014 Great to know that we are going to contribute to the 4th home too. Anyway, the 4th home we are going to contribute, is mdm wong's shelter. This is a very special one. Mdm wong's shelter is a no kill animal shelter home. And personally, both of my furkids are been adopted so i totally respect what mdm wong have been trying to do. I personally have adopted 2 furkids along the way. I hope that our kindness is not just extended to those elderly who need our help, We should give all our heart to help as long as we can help and no matter who we help. Hamburger Hypersonic June 25, 2014 Share June 25, 2014 Just my thoughts, will it better that the excess be distributed to the rental flats folks than to animal feeds. ultimately old folks have other resources to turn to, eg FSC, or any charitable organisation... Our furry friends have only aunty and others like mcfers to help them. SPCA? sorry, they prefer needles than to feed them. All the more we should contribute to help the aunty...

BabyBlade Internal Moderator June 25, 2014 Share June 25, 2014 Just my thoughts, will it better that the excess be distributed to the rental flats folks than to animal feeds. Can you look into the eyes of this tough guy here and tell him he is not deserving of the helping hand from humans because there are other better causes out there? You can't save the whole world with just one man's effort (or one donation drive) and I believe animal shelters receive no government fundings. Most of the operating budget would probably come from dog/cat lovers (animal lovers) and the generosity of the public. The costs to care for animals, provide medical attention and medicine, feed, shelter, bathe, spay and neuter, train and prepare for adoption far outweighs what we would probably expect. I think most of us would want to live in a community where every living being matters... And I fully support @Kurty's suggestion to consider Mdm Wong's shelter (though personally I have not been there) and knowing Towkay Ken and his abundance of love for animals (which is apparent if you have been to his shop), he would definitely give it the greenlight. Long story short - those fur kids need as much help as they can get, just like everyone else. One such effort cannot help all the organizations out there so the next best thing is to focus all the resources on selected ones instead. Perhaps @porche would like to organize one fund raising drive catering to the rental flat folks instead?

Have to consider the fact that not everyone is sympathetic towards the cause. Most people are fearful of dogs; what more about unattractive strays. Perhaps can follow what I'd always done - buy and donate direct whenever I go purchase dry dog food for my dogs. Perhaps @porche would like to organize one fund raising drive catering to the rental flat folks instead? Personally, this event is all about helping the less fortunate, be it humans or animals. Agreeing with Babyblade, we are unable to help everyone single one in this planet. what we can do is to single out the vital ones which require more assistance than others. Elderly are one such group. Animals, i personally believe, need even more help from us. There are many types of poor people that needs assistance, but to me, they have the luxury to make choices. Animals can't! They don't have a choice. They cannot go to work to earn money like we do. Those fortunate enough to have a home are lucky. How about those who don't? They end up in a shelter. And who is going to provide to this shelter? Aren't they comparable to the homeless people. So it seems like people with rental flats are more lucky in comparison. I believe every lives is important, humans or animals. Even our laws protects both humans and animals. So, to me, i strongly support the decision to donate to the animal shelter. (Personal views only. not reflecting another person or organization. Thank you.)

I am sure there are people out there who wish to do what they can for these animals but have no idea how to go about doing it. Towkay Ken's donation drive enables these eager-to-help-but-not-sure-how-to-go-about-it people a direct channel to offer their little assistance and give back to the community (fur kids inclusive!). By having a combined effort, it creates public awareness, and make possible for us to donate effectively. Kill 2 birds with 1 stone. My first and only pet dog was a stray and I am thankful and blessed to have her adopted me as part of her family. Btw bro, where do you purchase your dry food from?
