Juniorsg May 15, 2014 Share May 15, 2014 Am driving a 7yrs old Mit Lancer GLX with mileage of about 135k. Tyre age is about 1.5years. Recently noticed that my care tyre wear off unevenly. The wear only happen on the front left outer side wall. The front right tyre is not. What could be the problem? Do I need wheel alignment? Or is the suspension kaput? (still in stock since day 1). Thanks in advance. it could be a combination of both pressure and alignment issue. 135K and 1.5 years, about time to change tires liow lah. go for a change, then do a proper alignment after that. If yes that might contribute too as outertire will eat more due to pressure on it...as we turn right more Of course alignment is the basic check to do 1st.. Juniorsg May 16, 2014 Author Share May 16, 2014 cos u turn MSCP yes, right turn up & down the MSCP everyday. if MSCP is the culprit, i would expect the same for the left tyre but inner side (since right tyre is outer side). the puzzling part is that it is only on right tyre outer side. so that rule out suspension or shock absorber problem. now is left with balancing or alignment. best is approach the wheel alignment work shop to let them take a look. what is the market rate for wheel alignment? what is the cost like to install a camber? pls advice. thanks Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Sorry for the confusion. Sitting on the driver side. Left tyre outer side wear Right tyre inner side no wear. When did you last do a wheel alignment ? Do you do wheel rotation as well ? Only do wheel balancing when change tyre. piang eh~! brudder, wheel balancing should be done at least at every EO servicing lah. if the workshop you go to to do servicing also can do rotation, it is < 20. otherwise, most shops will just charge you around $20 for rotation and balancing check. if the wear is still worrying you, change the pair of front tyres. better be safe than sorry you know. Only do wheel balancing when change tyre. yup, then that right... wear more on the outer wall of the left tyre due to MSCP. I go up an down 6 level at my house MSCP every day, therefore my left front tyre also wear off faster, the inner tyre wear slower as more of the pressure is at the left outer wall. Kenny at AMK is good at adjust alighment and camber. alignment charge ard $50-70, camber nut ard$100 if not wrong. Even after you do the alignment/camber make sure you also rotate your tyre even 10k to ensure all tyre have balance wear and tear google his contact and call to check with him 1st on the rate before going there. good luck and drive safe... 1 Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
TVT Supercharged May 16, 2014 Share May 16, 2014 Only do wheel balancing when change tyre. Its best to do wheel alignment when you change new tyres, cos since you are already there at the tyre shop. So don't waste the trip. Firstly you check if you front left tyre is too worn out. If so, you may need to change it, for safety sake. Then do a wheel alignment. Then do Wheel rotation every 8,000 kms, so that all 4 of your tyres will wear off evenly, at the same time. Hope that will solve the problem. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Initial impression is that the sterring wheel is less rigid and the drive is more smooth with less road noise. Not sure is that physiological effect. Initial impression is that the sterring wheel is less rigid and the drive is more smooth with less road noise. Not sure is that physiological effect. Was also advice to perform another alignment after clocking 80k mileage.
