SGCM_editorial 1st Gear May 14, 2014 Share May 14, 2014 The third generation Elgrand recently underwent a facelift, bringing a host of cosmetic changes and improvements. It also enters the large MPV market with a seven-seater variant. Versus its close rival the Toyota Alphard, which do you think is a better buy? http://www.sgcarmart.com/news/review.php?AID=742 ↡ Advertisement

Enye Hypersonic May 14, 2014 Share May 14, 2014 my only peeve about the elgrand is for all the extra features that the 7 seater has compared to the 8 seater, why 7 seater no auto tailgate but 8 seater has?
Watwheels Supersonic May 14, 2014 Share May 14, 2014 Go test drive both to see which handles and performs better. On paper they are pretty similar. So it's down to the test drive.

Jimmylim 4th Gear May 14, 2014 Share May 14, 2014 I would go for Toyota Alphard. However, Just the current COE pricing alone, I won't even look at getting a new car now even when I do need a MPV now for some occasions. Got money also not throw it away like that, we can still squeeze a bit since each journey the most 45 mins, the money I save can be better spend on other stuff to enjoy more for my family. Unless I got 2 millions in cash now, then to spare 10% of it still ok, if not, nah, not going to be tie down with such loan. Wait till my car COE is up, then LPPL got to fork out the money for a new car but who knows. Everyone priority in life is different.
Dinobros 2nd Gear May 14, 2014 Share May 14, 2014 Although I voted for the Nissan. Toyota will however fetch a better resale value. This is quite a similar case to the Murano vs Harrier argument. Harrier more exp but has a better resale value. But given the choice again. I will still choose the Nissan again. Same for the Elgrand
Mz3SP0907 3rd Gear May 14, 2014 Share May 14, 2014 I still vote for Elgrand but preferred the previous generation Elgrand with V6 engine... if I'm not wrong...

OIC, i mistaken the outdated info from parallel import, if this is the case, no excuse to reject Elgrand, but don't understand why Toyota still hold the price at 218k Edited May 14, 2014 by Quantum

The best family MPV for this class is estima/previa, u see the boot area is self explanatory plus there are so many more on d road so spare parts of easier to source n cheaper than elgrand. Elgrand's GPS is dam slow to respond, just try it for yourself. Looks n interior wise elgrand prob is better. FC no need to say all r crap. If u want better FC, wait for the hybrid models to become cheaper then buy. I posted before that theres rumor that the new alphard/vellfire is out end of this yr... ;) Edited May 14, 2014 by Duckduck
