I have been driving my v40 d2 since sep14. My fuel comsumption is ard 7.6l/100km. Is it normal or should be much lower. I ve been pumping at Esso since day one and have not encountered any of the problem. Is there any complaints abt esso diesel?

Hi,

Yours is about 13km per litre. I usually achieve 14-15km. A quick look at both Esso and Shell website seems to suggest that Shell has cleaner diesel. Esso states 50ppm of sulphur while Shell states only 10 ppm of sulphur. I am really not good at these details but I am going to stick to cleaner diesel from now on.

I guess it's normal for Diesel engine? Maybe pros can advise?

When the engine vibrates more on 2nd or 3rd gear, just step on the accelerator more and enjoy the ride :)

Still have half tank SPC Diesel left before I switch to Caltex to see if any difference.

Hi All, i'm driving V60 D2 and also experience slight vibration at around 80km/h. The feeling is like driving a manual car enaged in a wrong gear. "Bo lat" type of feeling

I hit 16.5km/l with my mileage is 9500km + 16" rims/air psi 245 front & 260 rear. I use Caltex.

Hi,

Yes. The sound is akin to the sound of a hovering helicopter when idling. As you accelerate, the engine growls loudest at 1500 rpm or 35km/h. If anyone has this problem feel free to contact.

Cheers.

I suggest you return to Service centre to get the mechanics to judge if that is normal. Hopefully it is not fuel containment...water leak into fuel tank by accident can also cause loud vibration...especially it has been raining cats and dogs recently.

Yup, I did just that. Diesel doesn't smell right. Did a diesel pump flush. It's working fine now. :)

Yes, that's what I am doing now where I will step up to maintain at least 1500rpm when turbo is being active.

I suppose that is also why I get engine shiver some times when I switch off.

Actually I don't advise using SPC at all cost because it took me 3 full tank filled before my car return to a more fuel economical and better power state.

Hi Bluecollar,

I am not really technical hence I can't really provide much details. My service consultant told me that they flush the fuel injection pump. Not really sure what is the detailed process of how its done.

Sounds good, I will change to Caltex the next round.

Do we need to warm up the turbo diesel engine every morning or can just drive off like petrol engine? Read in google saying no need to.

Hi Joey,

You will find that a diesel engine warms up very slowly as compared to a petrol ride. This is discussed in some articles that diesel engines need be to loaded order to have a proper warm up. Diesels are like a chicken and egg problem.

Personally I let my ride idle for about a minute and before moving off. it is a good practice to keep your rpm low (<2k) until the temperature gauge has reached the "normal" line before putting more revs in it.

I have just finished running my Caltex Diesel...

Left 1 bar of SPC diesel on the meter when I changed to Caltex.

When on Caltex diesel, acceleration was smoother and slightly more responsive.

Mileage improved significantly.

My 3rd tank on SPC was running about 13.2km/l

4th tank on Caltex manage to run 14.6km/l

The 5% more expensive Caltex diesel was worth it.

Need some advice.

I've bought a blackvue with power Magic pro and fix to my V40. Power magic was tab to the fuse box under the glovebox.

However, when I lock the door from external, electric power to the unit will cut-off after after 1mins, It didn't stay on and go to parking mode.

Any bros experience that?

Had the same issue. Initially thought my power magic was not working. Apparently it's a norm and has something to do with power management. Power is available for a longer period with ignition off but driver still in car. However, when driver leaves car, the power will cut off very fast. Went back to my installer and got the connection re-routed to a constant power source.

I think I have the same problem, thought no lights means on parking mode.

Time to go back to installer

Just came back from across the causeway, travelled 180km @ 19.2km/l.

Really shiok!!

Total different results when driving in SG which currently getting 13-14km/l.
