Volvo V40 Diesel

D owners here, may i ask, what is the service interval volvo quoted for yiur diesel cars?

The reason i asked is because i found out in europe, diesel cars service interval is

- Ford S Max (should be same engine as volvo) 25k

- Bmw 50k

My friend told me he didnt service the car for almost 4 years and was worried but their service centre told them its normal to have kong service interval for diesel cars. Running cost is lower than petrol not only in consumption but servicing.

Just wondering whats it like here.

Uk diesel is higher quality, less sulphur

Long service interval is just a gimmick to appear more green, but in reality your oil turns acidic, eat ur seals and doesn't libricate any more, u think a paper filter can store debris for 25000 let alone 50000

If u want to believe then go ahead, it's your car, but post ur vrn and classis number so the next buyer won't get your broken down engine

I called SE for an update (SE didnt call me). She said that the best they can offer is S60 d2 at $142k (a 7k top up) or wait longer for the v40 but with a $1k discount. v40 xc no stock so dun bother.

S60 D2 at $142k sounds decent. But with what specs?

Is that the car you want? I tend to think that the V40 has a younger, fun and exciting image whereas the S60 has an executive, mature feel.

Asked to speak to the Sales Manager and she said if I want, I shd email her instead cos Sales Manager would ask her to sort out her own customer and not bother her.

Well done Wearnes, well done.

Dont buy a Volvo. Cos when the s**t hits the fan, you are on your own baby!

Who is ur SE? Mebbe I wanna change SE liao. Mine making me angry.

Sounds like a bad manager /management. I'm sure you can speak her if you really want to. But I doubt she can give you a satisfactory solution. She can at best, sweeten the offer slightly.

No point changing SE. It's the Wearnes management that's fxxx up. Anyway, the first SE would earn the comm for selling the car to you and the second SE basically clears the shit. Perhaps you can ask to them to assign a sweet, cute and chio SE to you... Sweeten the difficult pill that they wanna you to swallow... Lol

I wonder how does long service interval appear green?

Doesnt more service frequency get the car more efficient hence more green?

Dont car manufacturer worried about their cars being stalled on the road if service with less frequency and would want to have their cars serviced more often? Anyway, they get the business. Why would they want long service interval?

It would seem to me AD here wants more cars back to their workshop more often to make money from consumers,... If they make every come back once every 25k, they woukd make 50% less than today.. No?

Where is the gimmick?

Test drove the s60. It is a huge compromise to get tt cos i prefer estates and hatchbacks to saloons. My SE was on off day tdy. Reserved the uncle volvo color, seashell something. Will swap to s60 if there is a more reasonable price. 142k is too high considering im compromising.

A new engine n gearbox can earn more than servicing

The V40 saga is over for me as I embark on the S60 saga now. SE offered the S60 at $140k today (no loan). She was initially offering it at $142k and was willing to let it go at $140k only if I took a loan. I'm not sure what I said but eventually, she relented.

Signed the papers and gave her the cheque. Cant say that this has been a very pleasant experience. I still have the hots for the V40 and the S60's boot really sucks! But with no sign in sight of the V40 being approved and a possibility of collecting it in Sept or even Oct, I guess collecting a car in 2 wks time, albeit not the car of 1st choice, is better than nothing. Notwithstanding the $15k discount off the S60's retail price.

Sorry to hear about your situation. Don't blame you about feeling disappointed. Good that you managed to get a good real. Welcome to the s60 club!
