me too, besides you above mentioned features, one most significant attractive point to me is "six-speed manual transmission"

expect AD/PI can import without compromised :yeah-im-not-drunk:

Woah, bigger hp, would really be a neater xt. If TC brings it in, they would have to expect the current 2l to drop in sales

Hi all

I have been driving my XT for almost 2 months. During these 2 months, I have sent back my XT for the 1st 1k servicing as well as due to a couple of issues (HU screen died on me and rattling sound on the left dashboard). Both the issues were resolved – HU was replaced while the rattling sound was due to my cablings of my new component speakers.

In the initial stage, I was concerned over my FC. For my 1st tank, my FC was ard 8.5. My driving pattern is 50/50 and has been relatively light footed most of the time. Fortunately, after the 1st tank, my FC became more stable at ard 9.5. My last tank was 10.5.

Things I dislike about the XT:

  • A-pillar is a tad too big and blocks a certain portion of my view. Upon turning into a road, I have to ensure that there are no pedestrians walking by turning slowly and having a couple more glances.
  • Water seems to be dripping profusely under the carriage after parking. I have checked with Tan Chong but the service guys mentioned that its normal.
  • HU is not good. Touch screen but is not that touch sensitive (like iphone LOL). Radio reception is lousy for a car of this quality and it could be due to the HU. I have tried using a different antenna (shorter one) and the reception seems the same as the stock antenna.
  • Stock antenna is too long. Although I have not encountered it, but some bros feedback that the antenna kept hitting on the ceiling/beams of some MSCPs/car parks.
  • Stock speakers are muffled. I have changed to a better one.
  • Stock solar film is not as gd as I thought. But hey its free!
  • Wipers need to be pushed up (by tapping twice on the wiper stick after turning off the engine) for washing. If manually pull up the wipers, the wipers will cause damage to the bonnet. I fear for this as people distributing flyers may try to force-lift the wipers to put the fliers.

Things I like about the XT:

  • Sound insulation is good. Road noise is better than my previous Honda. I have installed hella horns and once I horned a car in the car park. Thought that my horn wasn’t working cos I couldn’t really hear from inside the car. J
  • Interior is nice and seats are comfortable. The back seats can be adjusted into a less upright/more relaxed position. I would have charge my passengers as they are having premium economy seating (SIA). LOL.
  • Minimal loss of power when full load. I have tried driving with 6 adults and 2 toddlers. You can feel that it’s a bit less responsive when accelerating (may have to hit 2.5k rpm to get it moving at a decent speed) but once it hits above 50km, it felt like as if I was driving alone.
  • Suspension is good. My buttocks dun hurt that much on humps and esp on those irritating strips.
  • With the height, road presence is good. Can see far ahead and plan ahead when stuck in a jam.
  • Steering is light at very low speed and will firm up when it hits a higher speed. Initially dislike the light steering but it helps when it comes to parking or driving a very low speed.
  • Auto tail gate. Saves a lot of trouble when I can open the tail gate prior to reaching the car.
  • LED/DRL headlights are cool!
  • Less common on road. I like the exclusivity. J

Overall, it’s a very enjoyable ride for me and my family. I am looking to bring it up north next year. We have a group of XTs brothers in a whatapps chat group. Feel free to PM me to join this exclusive group!

good review, but one point - I dont feel sound insulation is good, I am comparing with my existing latio. Somehow i felt the engine is quite loud in xt when i test drove, and it is louder than its brother 2.0l qashqai.

Hi bro stdfrank

Yes. You r right that the cvt engine noise is quite loud. When i roll down the window i can hear the engine screaming. Fortunately this is only at low speed/during acceleration. I can bear with it. The engine sound is already a big improvement from my previous 9 yr old civic.

I find road noise to be more of a concern. Xt has relatively low road noise for me.

Hi bro, when you upgrade your speakers did you sound proof your doors at the same time?

Hi bro, maybe can consider after market sound dampening and soundproofing since there are still many more years to enjoy the ride. Side effect is it adds weight depending how much is used. Doors and wheel arc are worth considering.

Got some reviews here:http://www.sgcarmart.com/products/listing.php?BRSR=0&CAT=6&SCAT=Sound+Proofing

And editor's review here:http://www.sgcarmart.com/news/events_features.php?AID=2942&PN=1

Hey no man. I have nv considered sound proofing. Is it really good? Exp?

Not sure if it voids any part of the warranty. I dun want a situation where tc claim so. Zzzz

Got a response from Nissan:

Nissan Hi Patrick, generally aftermarket soundproofing will not void current warranty. However, in the case where any damages (i.e. wiring, door panels, power window motor) are incurred during installation, they will no longer be covered under warranty. Hope this clarifies, thanks!

saw this and the so called "3rd-row" in the flesh today. the "3rd-row" is really not a 3rd row at all. only "small" kids can go in ... difficult for anyone above 7-8 years old. so, its probably better to judge this as 5 seater.

SUV is not suitable to develop 3rd row at all,

if want to carry more people, go for MPV

Last week I bought a bottle of easyskin spray matt black. Its a removable rubber paint. Today, I tested it on my xt just for fun. Workmanship is lousy tho.

No offence but I think the X-trail stock looks sleek and clean. Which is better than with the matt black paint.
