EricLim_159335 Clutched August 15, 2015 Share August 15, 2015 I think increasing of quota might be part of their strategy. Hehe. But is still based on supply on demand for COE to rise and fall. http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/more-car-coes-for-august/1980136.html Yes. Thanks. Just hope coe will drop before the GE. Haha.
Magoo_6565 Neutral Newbie August 15, 2015 Share August 15, 2015 Car not under ur name wor. U mind? It will be under other coy or financial institute. Dun confuse with bank loan. Tho bank loan is also hire-purchase (literally considered under bank), car is still under ur name. For leasing, car is not under ur name, ie legally doesn't belongs to u. For HP, the car is in your name but it also does not belong to you till you have settled all your loans, the bank has the right to repo the car if you default on your instalments so.. to me no difference, the bank is still the rightful owner. Ok, for leasing, the car will be tranferred to your name once you settle all your outstanding ownings or if you have completed your leasing agreement - meaning same as bank. I know where u coming from. Many will regard it this way. To me, look at it this way. For HP, bank will only repo if u default payment. Legally, car is under ur name n u are the legal registered owner. Bank repo is becos u are using it as an asset for the loan. For leasing, till the day u can repay in full, the car is not urs prior to that. It is legally belonging to the financial institute. Any point of time, they hv all the legal rights to take back THEIR car, regardless payment.

I also do understand where you are coming from but..for the sake of argument..why would they want to take back "THEIR" car for no reason..Leasing also has a binding contract like HP so they(lessor) are also bound by rules. Anyway, whether to go for HP or Leasing, the only difference is straightforward - if you are willing to fork out more cash and take less loan, then its HP but if you are not willing to do that, then Leasing is the other option. I know of people going for Leasing on exotic cars like Aston Martin, Ferrari etc so I don't think there is going to be a problem especially in Singapore where everything financial is controlled by MAS. Just my 2 cts.

My point is, as much as we all wanted, we would wish our car to be under our name ;)

Spiritual-Zen 1st Gear August 15, 2015 Share August 15, 2015 Hi all.. Since last Oct 2014.. was cpativated and interested when saw an advert in fb by PI.. E***** G***** @ 111k+ Finally, while looking for a 2nd hand car replacement for my 10 yo car, in Ubi & Turf City thru sgcarmart, ended up booking a X after visiting a few dealers @ mid range price of 108k, although got a few price ranging from 104k-112k from other dealers. Amongst all the dealers, P**** SE gave me a very friendly, pleasant and comfortable feelings with a deal I couldn't resist, but delivery in Nov/Dec. Fulfilled and handled all my 3 main concerns, hassle and worries. Offered and accepted my car with higher value than others, getting me a cheap rented car on the day of handing over my 10 yo car next month while waiting for the new X and guaranteed COE.. the next day, sms me that the loan was approved.. another thing is, whatever I asked for, replies were all "no worries, small issues". That's how I decided no need to check out on other dealers anymore and signed the deal.

Easy to say "no worries" when nothing is going wrong.
