lach90 1st Gear August 5, 2015 Share August 5, 2015 Nobody care to comment? Another point to note is that ppl keep saying JDM's price is too good. Which in my post above i already rebutted koz Auto Selection is selling at the same price. Hope some of the fellow forummers can come fw to share their experiences with either dealers to save my ass from a mistake. Thanks in advance. :) I did a detailed calculation on Hup Long vs JDM and here's my opinion. Hup Long prices is about $4k pricier than JDM - however they also offered $3k higher trade-in value for my current ride. So essentially its only $1000 premium. Also Hup Long has 1 month delivery package for additional $2k, which kinda makes sense to take considering the trade-in value for my current ride will also drop by $2k if I opt for the 3 month delivery package. So I guess it boils down to your risk appetite and urgency. While delivery period is not crucial for me, I still consider Hup Long the winner at the moment (rather pay slightly more for its reputation). Might head down this weekend to talk to them and find out more. Just 2 cents. Good luck bro ! ↡ Advertisement

Unless it is due for scrap where the price offered will make little difference or the extra in extremely bad condition. Otherwise, anyone who wants to make an extra few thousand and and which they feel woulld be useful extra money for themselves, then should take the trouble to sell it themselves. Just a simple ad in SgCarmart , and one will be a few thousand dollars richer.
Yellogorilla Neutral Newbie August 5, 2015 Share August 5, 2015 Noob here (can see the post count). I had booked an X and waiting for delivery. Like some of the folks here, trying to get the best deal, worried about the reliability of the PI etc ... Other than reading the posts here, FB group, vezel-hrv club, I also visited the showrooms and called the dealers to save some legwork. Generally, IMO different strokes for different folks, so the best deal is really subjective (The ultimate deal high COE rebate, gteed COE, lowest price and immediate stock. Sorry! can't find!). Writing off the dealer based on some bad comments might be too quick to judge considering this is a dog-eat-dog industry, using trolls to badmouth competitors are highly possible. Likewise, good comments gave a slight nudge towards the dealer but does not mean they are 100% reliable. Call, visit, call, visit, call, visit, visit, more visits, decides. Yes, there are bound to be trolls around in this forum or others. The best is to join meet ups not arranged by PI or SE then u will get to know whether are there any truth or not. Sl8ker Neutral Newbie August 5, 2015 Share August 5, 2015 most important is what PI or SE promise and read the fine print on the COE as according to JDM one bid garuntee but when they bid is another story all together

That said, some dealers esp ADs will give you an overtrade for your ride and even though they quote you lower, the overtrade more than makes up for the lower price quoted. You will not be able get this difference if you got no car to trade in eg Your car worth $30k, they give you a $5k overtrade but value your car only at $28k so take in your car at $33k so you still better off by $3k. However, this may not be applicable for PIs

Initially I was worried that the paperwork would be a hassle but found out that Sgcarmart has a service to settle it for both parties Thanks for the advice! fully agree about the trade-in My lesson: I trade in my 1 year + jazz for 15K and the dealer even so thick faced to ask me top up my roadtax, which is due more than one month later then I saw their are advertising the car for 26K+ on Sgcarmart...So you know how much profit they are getting :o

No doubt direct selling can fetch better price and SGcarmart even offered services to complete the transaction. But for my case the estimated delivery date for new car is nov/dec. Most PI/Dealer quoted from 54K to 65K for my car. (Note: my car is a 3 owner car) I cannot afford to have down time. From the market price & what other owners or dealers are selling (2 owner car). it's about 66k to 69k. Some dealers even scared to take in my car as the hand over is ard December. Even if I can sell at 68K now, but if i sell it later due to the handover date, definitely I can't sell it for 68K. Signing a SA & PA from the PI, i managed to lock the price for my new & old car. Might not be good news for New car if COE dipped alot. But at least got a COE Rebate at 52K. But definitely good and likely hassle-free for locking the price of my old car. So i guess it's up to individual scenario & expectation? Edited August 5, 2015 by Akszaksz

Bonjoey 1st Gear August 5, 2015 Share August 5, 2015 bro, go join this group. https://www.facebook.com/groups/SGVezelHRVClub/ There seems to be some dispute with some buyers. Not all treated equally. Got one buyer receive his car in dirty condition, very low on petrol and without HU. In other words car not ready for handover. Quite a few got other surprises....delays...etc I joined the group only to be bombarded by pis messages.

White is nice, but personally won't go for white. Reason: Will be lazy to maintain/wash/polish. (New car will wash often, but number of washing depreciate together with the car's age, lol) Not the type of person who will spend alot on keeping the cosmetic shine shine, or respray. If no maintain, will be just like the colour of the yellowish-with after 5-7 years white cars that you see on the road now. Despite lazy to wash, see dirty liao mood also not good, haha. Unless I know I will change car before the age goes 5 yr old, otherwise i'm not in for white. But that's just me, haha!

And also there is the possibility that after a few days/weeks/mnths down the road, buyer start harassing you saying this spoil, that missing, etc etc etc. Whereas if you sell to dealer - it is a clean break. No trouble no hassle. So earn a few thousand less but a lot more convenience may be ok for some. ↡ Advertisement
