Anyone who bought the car we drove should be those of a certain profile that look beyond branding. Hence the similar mindset.

sounds legit... but i still believe in Shell, Mobil and other major oil companies engine oils...

difference of $9.90 per 4l...

too small a difference to compromise

1 series, a class, a3 barebone should be close lah

That's not even close to the size of our cars... I think the A3 was $130,000 when I paid $120,000 for my Sonata... I don't know if it's barebones or not... but I remembered it was about $7000 to $10,000 more... crazy prices lar...

Wah so you all service outside now?

Uh... yes lar... no point paying over the odds for a simple oil change... you don't even need to change spark plugs until 100,000 km or something like that... oil filter changes are just plug and play...

I refuse to pay $10 more for what is essentially the same thing... the bottom end products of a brand name oil company won't differ much from that of the mid range product from a less well known oil company... essentially you're paying for the brand name... which I can't bring myself to... of course I won't compromise on quality but after almost 20 years of using Carlube... I can vouch for the quality... my dad has been using it also and since he bought a Proton Wira back in 1997...

Omg. Oh well I paid for 2 year package already.

I already thought it was very cheap compared to my

Previous Volkswagen hahahaha. Looks like VW owners are suckers. Like myself lol

ADs work on the peace of mind premise... which works out for owners who are technically less inclined, very busy, or just can spare the cash... so I won't say people who use ADs for servicing are suckers... that's a bit too harsh... my dad has always used outside mechanics... but when he bought his Renault Fluence turbo diesel, he thought that his mechanic of many years wasn't too familiar with the engine and its needs... so he also decided to buy the servicing package from Renault despite it being like 10 times more than what it would cost outside... but then turbo diesels are not very common still...

good thing hyundai never bring in the 2.0 turbo and only bring in the barebone classic non turbo.

else will be stuck for a long time with a passat that is 1.8 turbo with less power yet much better.

wonder if its the same engine thats on the stinger.

But at least the stinger is on a rear wheel drive

Hey we don't even get the bare bones one. My sonata came with the elantra 2.0 engine haha. I think the base model for GDi engine is 2.4L

They'll never bring in the more powerful GDI engine until Hyundai phases out the MPI versions... cos this MPI version is much cheaper... their profit margin is much higher... you see the Veloster... uses GDI... expensive lor... same with i30 and i30 wagon...

I think Kia brings it in. The optima has it. Very similar car to the sonata! It's like the playful younger sonata

Oh? They bring in the GDI engine now??? Wow! Much more powerful... when I was looking at the Optima in 2015, it was still the MPI engine I think...

Does DOHC CVVL mean it's the GDI engine?

Did some reading... the Nu engine that is used in our Sonata has both MPI & GDI versions... ours is MPI... if the Optima uses the GDI version good for them... more powerful... but with the VES next year, it will face more stringent emissions testing... MPI exempted from particulate emissions test... ha ha...

Not true , current K5 is 2.0 NU engine , MPI

Oh yeah lar... then correct... Sorento is using GDI engine... the Santa Fe also if I am not wrong... the Tucson 1.6 L turbo is also GDI...

Oh well I don't think anyone getting a sonata has power as a priority on the list.

I feel the mpi is terribly lethargic. But oh well it cruises well and is pretty reliable I guess I can't complain.

I miss being able to quickly overtake though

That's why... the GDI has way more torque... so the overtaking is pretty much better...

For our Sonata, the trick is to switch to Sports mode and floor the pedal... give the transmission two seconds and you see the car surge forward... but it's super costly where fuel consumption is concerned... ha ha... only do it on NSHW lar...

Anyway I find that if I push the car to sky high revs it's still not too bad... in normal mode and I rev till about 4500 RPM lor... heh heh... of course the power isn't instant...

Yea I've tried that haha. But still does 0-100 in like 10 secs. Terrible haha. But ok for a family car luh.

Maybe it's my expectations luh. Coming from a sports car it's a hard pill to swallow
