I got the steering wheel replaced... very good now... no rattling sound anymore... but my Dad forgot to mention the screeching sound plus the intermittent non-functioning in car camera... looks like I got to send in again... sigh...

Mine so far so good.

Looks like the quality of the local installed head unit not so good.

Yeah... I feel it's not as good but I mean good enough for me lar... got all the functions I want...

Good that you solve your rattling issue, at least the warranty is honored.

Hope mine dun start surfacing those issues you mentioned on the headunit. So far happy with it.

You are right, no complains on functions. Sometimes, all these after market add-on (especially electronic gadgets) locally is luck.

Oh you didnt go down yourself? Can take chance to touch and feel the facelift haha.

Oh I touch it and sat in it already lar... not difference mah... interior wise it is identical... the centre stack looks more blink with the fake metal accents which I dislike cos they look cheap and reflects sunlight when driving on NSHW... I'm glad I got mine at the price I paid... the current model also loses some stuff which I like - the cover for the bottom cubby hole in the centre stack cos of the wireless charging pad? Collects dust no end I tell you... the striped inserts on the doors looks terribly fake, our fake carbon fibre looks more atas... the steering wheel looks really ugly now... I have no idea why they must "up-bling " the car... I prefer a more muted look... the new grille is nice, the rear not so good...

One more feature to report which is hidden and not written in the manual... last week, I was driving along when the trip computer sounded an alert - the wiper washer fluid level was low... WOW!!! Even this kind of thing also got alert... super impressed... anyway I got down to filling the tank and it took almost 4 litres. I also threw in a bottle of wiper washer detergent.... $2.30 from Esso...

Anyway almost one year on from the first year of driving the car solely on eco mode... driving the car in normal mode yields fuel consumption around 10.8 to 11.5 km/L... my last tank was bad... only 10.86 km/L... more tempted to drive the car harder now... can really feel the power surge... love it... but super hard on the wallet now that RON95 costs $2.25 per L... pumping 69 L at one go is really siong... even with steep discounts at the pump... ha ha ha...

Current model on sale is the facelift version already.

The few of us here got the original 2015 model.

As mentioned by Mingern, it is "loaded to the gills" in terms of features and value (the sunroof version).

No complains so far, suits people who are not brand conscious as you are really getting a lot of car for the money.

The car engine and transmission is exactly the same as my older non-facelift model... but the power is reduced to meet the VES requirements... especially the PM2.5 criteria... my current model is powerful enough if you step on it or use sports mode... the gearbox is rather slow, and it won't coast, will step down... otherwise the car is perfect... I love... read my review many pages back... can search for my name... the feature set may be a bit different... the price is very good now... especially for the non-sunroof model...

Any1 driving the red colour one?

What's your thought on this colour? This colour is on display in the showroom.

Do u think Komoco will bring in more Sonatas? Heard the stock is low.

Red is beautiful and super rare... most Sonatas of my generation are grey... I seldom see other colours, the car being really rare... I've seen only grey, silver, white, black, blue and brown. The last 2 colours only once... I wanted brown but the stock only arrived after my old car passed it's 9th year... so the SE was reluctant to take the loss...

But the red is not exactly bright red. Or deep red like Mazda.

I can't put a word to describe the red. But the interior is grey.

I thought white and black are good colours. Have seen white before, but not black.

What's the colour of your ride?

Brown reminds me of Altis...

Brown reminds me of Altis...

The brown colour came with a light tan leather interior... very classy with fake oak trim inserts... brown on the Sonata looks nothing like that on the Altis...

Only 2 colours came with that interior, brown Joe white for my batch...

My colour is Polished - in between grey and silver, with a purplish tint under dim light... interior is grey, dark and light grey... easier to maintain though not as classy...

Hi, anyone able to help with changing of HU in Sonata 2016? Iâm looking at the Pioneer HU but was told ours is a customized HU and need to change panel.

I don't know about customized HU but it's brought in by Elegant Auto... I posted the vendor's name some where higher up when I first got the car... maybe you can contact them to find out if they have a unit that can replace the current unit?

Anyway the front fascia that also includes the aircon vents right up to the dash left is one piece... the HU sits behind this piece. If the Pioneer unit is just a bare monitor without a bezel, it may fit. I never measured our HU but it's something like a 7 or 8 inch unit... I used my Galaxy Note 8 and put it on top of the HU screen, seems about short of 1 inch on the diagonal. The Note 8 has a 6.3 inch screen but the aspect ratio is 18.5:10. Our screen's aspect ratio is closer to 3:2 or 4:3... I think...

If you find something that fits with a more modern interface and a capacitive touch screen, do post here... I will be interested... must also work with the steering wheel controls...

Thanks Bro. I had a second hand Sonata 2016 basic model and my HU didn’t have GPS. Screen was probably a 6.2 inch or something. Was happy with calls and Spotify on Bluetooth but backside itchy and the newer cars had nice big touch screens which were really sweet. I chanced upon the 2018 Pioneer AVH Z9150BT at Carousell. Reviews were great, Apple car play works perfect and was at a good price of below 800. However there’s installation charges and when queried further, the installer told me mine’s a customized HU and would need to source for the panel. Of course finding it and buying would meant more money and I’m also not sure about matching the steering wheel controls.

I’ll reach out to Elegant to see what they say.... thanks bro! Will give you the praise when I have more points lol

You mean the panel on top of the screen? Hmmm... that one can't find online... I think can leave the buttons on the bottom row intact - that is they become funny buttons lor... just reuse the existing panels... if you opt for a totally touch screen panel, should be ok?
