You see this splash screen that sums up all the functions available. But this is not the home screen.

Once you have a thumb drive plugged in, it defaults to the USB drive function. It remembers the last state and plays the last file from wherever you left off. The read speed is quite fast, and that's maybe because I chose a USB3.0 drive. A Sandisk Cruzer Fit. It's a tiny little drive quite like those dongles for wireless mouse. It is unobtrusive and doesn't take up unnecessary space inside that small compartment in the centre console stack.

This is how the USB playback screen looks like. There is an image of a girl with rather dubious long sharp finger nails. I don't like that image but I don't how to change it. I think it basically takes the image meta data that is embedded with the mp3 file. Cos I played back a Charlotte Church track and it had the album art of Charlotte Church and not this dubious image. Running your finger across left to right or right to left will change the track playing back.

There's only forward to next track and backward to previous track. No ability to fast forward on the playing track. Shuffle seems to shuffle the entire root folder. Not sure if you can just shuffle within that folder or not. I have about 30 folders in that USB drive, so I will try when I have time.

The steering control can only change volume and move from track to track. So far I have found out how to move back to the root folder from playback mode so that I can change folder. Also can't seem to sort by anything other than file name.

Note the Chinese characters. Every single Chinese file I have has it's Chinese characters read flawlessly.

This is how the root folder looks like for the USB drive. You have to use your finger to scroll. Which doesn't make it very reliable. I prefer arrow keys. Somehow the buttons on the steering wheel don't seem to work. Will check further and get back to you guys.

This shows the folder that contains some video files. The MVs are downloaded off YouTube at 480p and 720p resolution. The last file is a home-made file which I recorded using my phone of a live performance by my students. All played back flawlessly.

post-167839-0-97224200-1460122969_thumb.jpg

This a video of Psy's Gangnam Style playing back. It's full screen cos the aspect ratio of the video happens to match that of the screen. The video's resolution is 640 x 360 which is 16:9 aspect ratio.

post-167839-0-32235000-1460123135_thumb.jpg

This is a video of Ylvis' What Does The Fox say playing back. It has a black letterbox on the top and bottom. The video's resoluton is also 640 x 360. So I have no idea why the difference in the appearance.

post-167839-0-13681300-1460123239_thumb.jpg

This is filmed using my Galaxy S4 some three years back. It also fills the screen fully. Puzzled as to why the black letterbox for the second video.

Will try 1080p and see if the system can playback. I think 2160p is a no-no lar... but will try also. See if can detect or not.

This is the Home screen of the system. It's pretty straightforward.

post-167839-0-37308100-1460123406_thumb.jpg

This is the radio interface. Quite straightforward. Just press the BAND physical button and it scrolls through AM1, AM2, FM1, FM2 & FM3. For FM1 - 3, all the stored values have been pre-programmed with our local radio stations. Quite easy to find the station you want.

This is the navigation software splashscreen. I have no idea who made this and where it comes from. Those who are more familiar with GPS software can help enlighten us.

post-167839-0-98106000-1460123520_thumb.jpg

At this point, you're ready to search for a destination. It's really big and easy to use.

post-167839-0-34633600-1460123556_thumb.jpg

This is the current top down map view of where your car is. It's not the navigation view.

post-167839-0-35933500-1460123589_thumb.jpg

This is the result of using the search function. It took a while to get to this page. The system seems much faster if you keyed in the precise address. I typed Tek into the search field, and straightaway only a few options with these 3 letters popped up, and Tekka Market was one of them. I simply tapped on the first option.

post-167839-0-67013400-1460123688_thumb.jpg

The top down view is shown to establish where Tekka Market is relative to its surroundings. I find this quite helpful cos it kind of gives me a big picture view.

post-167839-0-93632700-1460123734_thumb.jpg

This is the routing screen. Very fast actually.

post-167839-0-01577300-1460123785_thumb.jpg

This is the simulation screen. I am super impressed with the degree of information given and very well organised. The left size shows the next three turns and with distances from where you are currently. The distances are constantly updated. The surrounding building names, street names are all listed as you go along. Very impressive. At the bottom left hand corner, you see a 4x - this is the simulation speed; goes up to 6x. Bottom right hand corner is the current legal speed limit of that road you're travelling on.

This is the Bluetooth phone interface. My phone is not yet connected. The Dial, Book, Log & Music tabs at the bottom of the screen are not available. This protects your contact list if anyone breaks into your car. The phone must be connected to the system before you have access to the saved data list. The software requires you to sync manually. This prevents the system from doing a sync every time you connect to the car via Bluetooth.

post-167839-0-77056300-1460124095_thumb.jpg

This is the connected screen. You can see my phone name - Ming Ern's Galaxy Note 4.

post-167839-0-62982600-1460124146_thumb.jpg

This is the dialer interface. Pretty straightfoward.

post-167839-0-80065000-1460124185_thumb.jpg

This is the contact list that is downloaded into the car. The sorting seems haphazard. The right hand column of buttons on the screen are in order - Download (contacts), Delete, Search.

post-167839-0-67672000-1460124247_thumb.jpg

This is the music interface via Bluetooth. Tapping play will simply playback a track on your phone and the audio output to the car's speakers.

No log screen cos I didn't use the phone via BT so far.

post-167839-0-12345900-1460124294_thumb.jpg

There's a calendar function. What for I don't know cos you surely can't use this on the road.

These three photos simply show the setting options for the system.

Last photo... this shows the lights off delay after car is locked. Note that the folded wing mirrors means the car doors are locked. The lights cut off approximately like 5 min after locking. I can't remember the time. You can switch off this feature. This is good for places which are dark.

Well... I hope that this series of photos have been helpful for your buying decision...

Ah... I didn't want to take full front and rear shots cos of the license plate... cos got to edit out my car license plate number... hahaha...

Anyway, will do it next time...

For now, just want to illustrate what the static bending lights do and when they light up...

post-167839-0-72136900-1460195905_thumb.jpg

The steering wheel is turned and the front wheel panned to the right side.

post-167839-0-85383100-1460195946_thumb.jpg

This is the light cluster for the right side of the car. Note that the round lamp is the main beam. It's white and so it's a xenon light. The other open design lamp facing the camera directly is the static bending light. It's lit cos the steering wheel is turned to the right and hence it will help light that corner. Note that it is yellow in colour and is therefore a halogen lamp.

post-167839-0-10841600-1460196038_thumb.jpg

This is the light cluster for the left side of the car. You can clearly see that the lamp facing the camera directly not lit.

Hope this is helpful...

*Just a note, the reason why I didn't take a photo that included the wheel was because the phone's camera couldn't handle the extended dynamic range and the light cluster was completely blown out as seen in the first picture. So just take my word for it that the wheel was panned to the right when I took the photos of the right and left front lamp clusters.

I'll investigate the high beam light colour again... cos it looked yellow just now when I switched it on. So the car may not have bi-xenon headlamps. The main beam lamp switches off and the high beam lamp takes over. I need to do it when it is dark and on a white wall. The MSCP where I park isn't very useful cos the walls are cream in colour... need a very white wall to tell the difference. Let's see how...

Correct... that's that strip of bulbs emitting white light on the front bumper.

high beam look like halogen

Eh I didn't take a photo of the high beam light colour. It's the main beam. And it's white. But it's not as white as the LED lamps.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Headlamp#High-intensity_discharge_.28HID.29

According to Wikipedia, the light produced matches that of sunlight, which is slightly yellow.

This website gives the different colour temperatures and corroborates what the Wikipedia article says.
