Solid performer. Definitely better than 911. At least for me ^_^ But the steering on bends is not as smooth/sharp as I hope. On straight, it is hell of a car but we don't so much of that in the city.

Nowadays, I don't drive the car that much. Every time go out is with wife and kids so got to drive the F10. Only at night or when I argue with my wife [lipsrsealed] then I take the AMG out for a spin. :D

What is the year of manufacture? The latest SLK looks horrible compared to the previous gen.

The new one looks horrid lah. Like the front flatten and got longer. Mine was the facelift R171. Better looking with sexier curves. [laugh] [laugh]

I got this from the M6 forum. It's a guy from Florida. Tasty isn't it?

I still like the 4 door M3 ... More Discreet ... [rolleyes]

Sweet. I drove the M6, the M6 Gran Coupe and also the M3 and M5 around Sepang about a year ago. Unforgettable experience, especially the Gran Coupe.

Awesome, bro. The only AMG I've driven is the E55, but that was a boat, even if it was fast. I'm sure your SLK is much SLeeKer and cooler (geddit, geddit?). :D

Ok... geddit :D

E55 is like a beast. Instant power and roaring on the get go. But I like the E63 more for it's refined handling and smoothness. ^_^ Anyway, both are powerful and are faster than the SLK55. [grin]

The SLK55, like you said, is just SLeeKer [laugh] [laugh]

All this talk of AMG is sorely tempting me to arrange a test drive of the A45. But if I do it, it'll be with a view to buying it - if it really performs significantly better than my M135i. I'm sure because of the AWD, it'll do better from a standing launch (my car already loses rear wheel traction even in dry conditions with its slightly modded state). I'm just not sure how good the rolling performance and handling characteristics of the A45 are compared to my car.

BTW, when did this thread go from being one about fuel economy to performance? [laugh]

I did consider buying either the A class for the 1 series for my wife but she didn't want it. I haven't test driven the performance of both cars yet but based on looks alone, I would take the A45. It has a fierce look front but the M135i look more tame. The A45 is supposedly more fuel efficient with lower road tax too.

And there, I just brought the topic back to fuel economy :D

I am not sure about you guys, but I have never watch my car FC in my 20 years of driving. Also, FC has never been a factor in what car I buy.

When it is near empty, I top up. That's all.

The driving experience is more important than how much fuel the car consumes.

I don't quite understand why everyone is watching FC like a hawk. Just enjoy the drive.....don't worry this and that.

Don't have to scrutinise FC but good to know, it can be a telltale sign of underlying problems with the car if the FC drops significantly.

Depend last time i stay sengkang everyday travelling cte most of time and i got 10-11km/l now i only get 8-9km/l, same car, 1.8L

Worst car was R350L about 6km/l and Toyota Harrier 2.2L (yr2001) about 4.8-5.1km/L (this one jialat)

Best car was none, no car i ever drove get above 11km/L mostly 8-10km/L

Other than mechanical limitations, many times depend on our right foot.

My mileage can range from 16+km/l as a road hogging wuss, to around 8-9km/l spirited pedal to metal maniacal sprints.

True heavy foot does make the difference. Crrently if i drive like turtle I will get 10.5/100 and if drive like F1, it will be around 12-13km/100l
