Neutral Newbie

I went to Soon Lee Audio yesterday to resolve a sticky key issue with my I.C.E. The boss convinced me to replace the unit as the current unit had already been serviced twice for the same problem.

I ended up with a new Pioneer AVH-X2650BT. Total damage was $630, including installation. The installation was completed within 30 mins by 2 of his shop assistants. In my opinion, they did a good job on the installation - the cables were neatly tucked away, and they checked to ensure that the DVD, bluetooth and radio components were working properly.

I am not very sure about the market rate, so would appreciate if brothers/sisters can let me know if I got "chopped".

If you do a search in the Marketplace:

http://www.mycarforum.com/index.php?app=sgcarstore&req=listprod&si=Pioneer+AVH-X2650BT&cat=&car_make=&car_model=&model=

You will find a range of pricing.

I think $630 is the pricing from approved dealers that provide warranty perks, confirm local set and etc.

On other side, there is $480 ++ from PIs I guess..

For market rate, it depends on who you compare with...

And also visit to Han Revolution, whoever drove Mitsubishi or love carbon fibre parts should know him quite well. The boss is very humble and friendly.

If just changing of HU or speakers, just go to any audio shop will do.

If serious in upgrading, can try Dynasty Sound Craft but it will cost you a bomb, they turn your car into a concert hall...

I find the FM radio reception on my car rather flaky. Atenna is stock. Any expert can advise if an upgrade of the radio reception atenna will solve the problem? If so, what's the brand to get and damage? TIA!

Bro, you might want to consider adding another antenna like Bosch or something. It might help. By the way, what is the brand of your headunit?

It comes stock with the car, not sure what brand it is... I'm driving a Mz6.

How much does an add-on Bosch antenna likely to cost (including installation)? Thanks!

Hi

The issue is not about fixing it....it is about finding it. It is a bit hard to find this item nowadays.

Have you done an y modification to your stock sound system before? It might be due to stock antenna being loose.

you can try Ken Ng from Audiodr.asia

I believe there is many of his supporter here.

He is specialise in modding your HU and Amp to excel more than you paid for those high ends one.

also he constructed his own high end RCA cables wic many high ends shop don't do that.

most impt... he is price friendly according to your budget and never look down at small fry ICE spenders before.

I suspect that my front right speaker is spoiled. It is a Mz6 2008.

Can any one recommend a audio shop to replace it?

I know that it is quite easy if you wanna DIY, but I am not sure whether I can do it at HDB car park.

In the past i have been hoping a round a few audio shops, paying just labor for installation in the hope of saving money. However, my the lesson that I learnt is that to install speakers and ice etc... workmanship is very impt.

u wont want your car interior parts of start rattling/vibrating, or wiring done wrongly or haphazardly. i like standing around seeing things being done. some of them really just humtam carelessly.

in the end decided to bite the bullet and went to a reputable audio shop recommended by my friends.. Darren Auto at Toh Guan.. its not cheap (be warned) but the installation was done very neatly and carefully and proper testing post-installation was done. Just a recommendation. Not affiliated to this shop.
