$300 for branded vs $300 for OEM with better features...

I was searching around for a HU replacement as some of you may know.

in SG, i saw a package for a Pioneer HU with USB, and 2 pairs of speakers for around $300 with installation.

 

wanted to see if can get cheaper in M'sia, so i went in and check out some shops.

for the equivalent of $300, i can get a DVD double DIN HU with screen and 2 pairs of speakers with in-built tweeters. but all OEM.

warranty only for HU. speakers no warranty.

 

will you go for package 1 or package 2?

BTW... the double DIN HU is an android player.

If in SG, that OEM package will be how much?

 

How much for the Pioneer package in MY?

 

And the MY deal include install?

For HU, i guess buy in sg better bah.... just like household electrical applicances....

 

morever, you are not comparing apple to apple in terms of the product. maybe u can find the same product in SG for 150 bucks?

I frequent JB to do up car... But ICE should not be done there.. More expensive.. Even my JB friends come here, e.g. Sim Lim Tower, etc, to do ICE.. Servicing and mech parts are definitely cheaper ah...

aiyah... i am asking, if you got a budget for something branded here, and you found that with that same budget you can get more, but not branded, will you go for it?

 

what considersations will you put in to make that decision.

not asking you guys for comparison of apple to apple between SG and MY prices for the exact same thing.

 

if you must know, for the same Pioneer HU and speaker set, i can do it cheaper here in SG.
for the DVD HU, i dun see it on offer here in SG. only at online shops. so cannot compare.

Depends how old your car is. If my car is like 1-2 yrs, I'll want to do it up nicely. If above 7 yrs, then I'll find cheaper.

 

But for HU still better to do it in SG. If you want OEM, might as well buy online and get workshop to install for you.

It's cheaper here in Singapore. I have done some research some time back comparing alpine and pioneer full setup, converting the price I get from jb, to sgd, it's more expensive to do it there.
