Nothingtodo 1st Gear June 24, 2018 Share June 24, 2018 Approximately, 20,000 passed. 20% of remaining 23,000 interested. The rest are just dropping out. 30% interested took course, but failed exam. Most likely they fail paper 2, where the stupid memorization of fines and demerits pts fines kill them. So I'd guess, the final figure is about 25k to 28k ph driver in addition to taxi drivers. Hey, that's too many drivers already. Report says 90% have not attended training at all. Says very much only 2,300 still trying to get license. The rest already did calculation not to waste time, go get TVDL makes more logical sense. By the way, Grab still thinking that drivers die die have to drive for them. Well, they can continue dreaming. ↡ Advertisement

This morning, my bro had a problem getting a taxi via phone and I got one easily via Comfort Delgro Booking app which is only for Comfort Taxis. For Grab, choice of taxis are not limited to Comfort. What about Rydë? Haven't downloaded the app yet although I do have Grab booking app too which I used when I was in Malaysia.

Jman888 Moderator June 29, 2018 Share June 29, 2018 play so dirty meh? Ryde files police report after 2,000 fake app bookings, 'including some from Grab' PUBLISHED JUN 28, 2018, 6:03 PM Zhaki Abdullah SINGAPORE - Ride-hailing platform Ryde has filed a report after receiving thousands of 'phantom' bookings from fake accounts - including some allegedly made by rival Grab. More than 2,000 cancelled bookings have been made from more than 300 fake accounts on its app in the last two months, the company said on Thursday (June 28). Ryde first started noticing the fake bookings in early May after it launched its private-hire car service RydeX, the firm's operations and community engagement head Shaun Wu told The Straits Times. He added that drivers had submitted feedback regarding numerous cases of rider "no-shows". The rider accounts had no prior activity, and attempts to contact the riders via email addresses and phone numbers provided to the firm proved unsuccessful. Mr Wu added that the mode of payment for these trips was cash, preventing the firm from tracing the users through their credit card details. "As an interim measure, Ryde has also been conducting user audits to eliminate these fake accounts and also informed drivers to look out and report the incidents," he said. In a copy of a police report lodged on Tuesday (June 26), seen by The Straits Times, Ryde claimed it had traced some of the bookings back to IP addresses belonging to three companies, one of which was rival Grab. A Grab spokesman said on Thursday evening that the firm was investigating the matter. Ryde has also notified the Land Transport Authority, as well as the Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore, which said it was looking into the matter. He declined to say whether the firm would be beefing up its cyber-security further, or pursuing legal action. Mr Wu estimated that Ryde drivers have lost about $50,000 in income because of phantom bookings. One affected RydeX driver, who wanted to be known only as Mr Pang, said he has been experiencing about two phantom bookings a week. However on Wednesday (June 27) alone, the 52-year-old had two no-shows. These often cancel their bookings just as he arrives, he said. "You lose time, you lose money, but what can you do? Just bang your head on the steering wheel," he said. Last week, it was reported that in Indonesia, ride-hailing rivals Grab and Go-Jek may have lost millions due to fake bookings. Ravinged 5th Gear June 29, 2018 Share June 29, 2018 Grab platform itself also have such fake bookings. Anyway Grab heat map is "highly inaccurate" to begin with. So nothing can be trusted.
Ravinged 5th Gear June 29, 2018 Share June 29, 2018 (edited) Need to indicate? I’m new to Grab. I just key in where I am and where I’m going. Always better to indicate so you can be advised whether you need to book a bigger ride. Everybody says two luggages, most cars can fit in but I throw back the question - 2 cabin luggages or 2 jumbo luggages? That makes a world of difference, depending on the car model. Another factor is how the passenger packed his luggage. I have seen at airport some soft jumbo baggage being packed like an exploding hippo. Above all else, it should be a standard thing passengers should indicate in bookings just like indicating the exact number of staying guests when booking a hotel. Just last week, I had such a booking for 1 pax (not from Grab though) and nothing was indicated. When I arrived at the pickup, they had 3 adults and 1 baby. Along with them was 1 jumbo luggage, 1 medium size luggage, 1 trekking backpack (about 12kg) and 2 strollers (1 of which was more bulky). There was just no way those are going to fit into a E-Class boot. Had to make the pax book an additional car for the maid to bring the additional stuff. When the other driver arrived, he also went wahhhhhhh... Edited June 29, 2018 by Ravinged
boonhat_91 6th Gear June 30, 2018 Share June 30, 2018 just saw this phv driver drop off my neighbour (landed house). He proceeds to park a little further back at the roadside (like all the residents around here do), goes to the boot and takes out an empty plastic jar. He takes the jar to the driver's seat, and relieves himself into it. despite the bad name of phv, still gotta respect some of these guys for their hard earned living. The nature of the job can be quite demanding.

Kb27 Supersonic July 5, 2018 Share July 5, 2018 SINGAPORE: The recent merger between Grab and Uber has fallen foul of Singapore's competition watchdog, which said the deal led to a "substantial lessening of competition" in ride-hailing platforms, made it harder for new competitors to enter the market, and resulted in higher prices. The Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore (CCCS) announced on Thursday (Jul 5) its investigations suggest the merger has infringed the Competition Act. It will also be seeking public feedback on proposed remedies to address competition concerns, and has recommended imposing financial penalties on the parties. It has also floated the possibility that the merger could be undone unless the proposed measures do enough to address competition concerns. https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/grab-uber-merger-competition-financial-penalties-10501708

Yewheng Twincharged July 6, 2018 Share July 6, 2018 (edited) Riders, please do not make job difficult for drivers. We drivers are not allowed to stop 9m within the bus stop. I know this rule, do it and don't get caught. But sometimes it really irritate me when rider insist want to drop at bus stop or just after bus stop due to their convenient sake (usually house is beside bus stop) . Comeon, we can turn to carpark and drop them. It only make the most 1 minute difference. Like today, met one not understanding lady when I told her actually not supposed to stop at bus stop, and propose to turn to carpark and drop them off instead. And she said nevermind drop after the bus stop. I told her also cannot. Then she told her husband what's wrong with me, every driver also do that. Nevermind I keep my cool, lucky the husband is understanding and said nevermind if it is difficult for me, drop them inside carpark. So as a reminder for all rider, please try best not to make job difficult for driver. No stopping within 9m at the bus stop means a big No, this is even if the house is right beside bus stop. So don't tell drivers to do that. Thanks. Edited July 6, 2018 by Yewheng ↡ Advertisement
