Some of these PHVs drivers are really driving pretty dangerously

Encountered two in a day, one suddenly stopped his car right after making a turn without hazard lights, looking at his hp

The other also stopped suddenly without hazard lights

Really waiting for accidents to happen, see phv sticker, must be super alert [sweatdrop]

I find Uber promo codes for existing users getting fewer and the discount is also getting lesser.

Now the credit card tie ups are targeting new users only.

Anyways, go with the flow and enjoy it while its around.  [:)]

True, uber promo for existing users are getting lesser and less attractive, and the fare always seem high.

Not necessary true also, even there is no promo code, many people still continue to take uber/grab esp during the morning and peak hours. The fare during these hours still surcharge very high.

In ranking

1) PHV

2) Red Canb

3) Red car plate

haha of course there are the good and the bad. Don't mean all Civic are all Vtec Siao

if we say taxi driver is king to taxi company, then PHV is king to uber and grab. Without them no income, 20% for each trip.

Think OKT also dont charge so much.

The point is where to condemn such driving is it Stomp and TP.

There should be a proper avenue to complain as the PHV driver can change car and continue to drive like a dick head. If not put sticker for what. Saw it on facebook dunno  if it is true.

I have seem 90 degree lane change for PHV and reverse on the highway as they missed a turn.

the  more unique and newer the PHV is the more alert and factor in more unexpected behavior.

more rule to regulate fatigue driving and reckless driving.

uber and grab is good cheaper alternate and good source of income just the few cow boy are the problem

Uber said to pick Expedia CEO to lead company out of crisis

SAN FRANCISCO — Uber Technologies Inc. will appoint Expedia Inc.'s Dara Khosrowshahi as chief executive officer of the global ride-hailing leviathan, two people familiar with the matter said. He'll succeed co-founder Travis Kalanick, who grew Uber into a US$20 billion (S$27b) annual booking business last year before scandals forced him out.

A spokeswoman for Uber directors said they've chosen a CEO but declined to name the person, saying the board would inform employees first. Expedia didn't immediately respond to requests for comment.

Mr Khosrowshahi will face a number of hurdles as Uber — which has raised more than US$15 billion (S$20b) from private investors — navigates its way toward a still-unscheduled initial public offering. The new top executive must grapple with the company's persistent losses, a high-stakes trade secrets suit filed by Alphabet Inc.'s Waymo, a tarnished brand and low morale among Uber's more than 15,000 global employees.

Uber's board met over the weekend for a last round of interviews with candidates and to discuss options, said people familiar with the matter, who asked not to be identified because the deliberations were private. Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co. CEO Meg Whitman gained support from some board members after presenting her vision for the company on Saturday, despite repeated public denials that she would take the job. General Electric Co. Chairman Jeffrey Immelt was another finalist but failed to win the board's full backing. He withdrew his name Sunday morning in a Twitter post.

The board ultimately went with a dark horse. Mr Khosrowshahi hadn't been named publicly as a finalist during a CEO search that was plagued by leaks, boardroom infighting and a lawsuit involving two directors.

Mr Khosrowshahi, 48, is an Iran-born American who graduated from Brown University with an engineering degree. He had a stint in investment banking at Allen & Co. before joining with billionaire Barry Diller at IAC during the dot-com boom. Mr Khosrowshahi led an acquisition binge in online travel, expanding IAC's Expedia with takeovers of Orbitz and HomeAway.

He's also one of the technology industry's most outspoken CEOs in his opposition to some of President Donald Trump's policies. He spoke out against the immigration ban and mocked Mr Trump on Twitter as repeatedly failing to "rise to the expectations of his office" after the president's response to protests in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Uber's long year of controversies began in January when Mr Kalanick tried to justify his position on a Trump council before ultimately resigning that post after customers staged a boycott. BLOOMBERG

SINGAPORE: Ride-hailing company Grab on Monday (Jul 24) announced up to US$2 billion (S$2.7 billion) will be raised from China's Didi Chuxing and Japan's SoftBank in its latest financing round.

Grab added in a press release that it anticipates to raise an additional US$500 million to bring the total to US$2.5 billion from existing and new investors, which it claims to be the largest single financing ever in Southeast Asia.

"Grab is establishing a clear leadership in Southeast Asia’s Internet economy based on its market position, superior technology, and truly local insight," said founder and CEO of Didi Chuxing Cheng Wei.

"By deepening our strategic partnership, Didi Chuxing and Grab reaffirm our shared commitment to innovating localised solutions to global urban development challenges from the world’s fastest growing marketplaces."

This sentiment was echoed by chairman and CEO of SoftBank Masayoshi Son, who said in the press release that Grab is a "tremendously exciting company in a dynamic and promising region" and it is excited to deepen the partnership.

This is not the first time SoftBank is investing in the ride-hailing company, leading the funding round last September as well as reportedly pouring in US$1 billion in March this year.

DRIVING INTO MORE SECTORS

Building on soaring user numbers of its Grab ride-hailing app and GrabPay function, the five-year-old start-up aims to transform into a consumer technology firm that also offers loans, electronic money transfer and money-market funds.

Grab bought Indonesian payment service Kudo earlier this year, and has said it is seeking more acquisitions to support rapid growth.

Grab competes with the likes of Uber, the world's largest ride-hailing service, and Indonesia's Go-Jek in Southeast Asia, which is fast becoming a battleground for startups vying for the attention of about 600 million people.

Tencent Holdings invested around US$100 million to US$150 million in Go-Jek, sources told Reuters earlier this month.

Grab's fundraising comes at a time when San Francisco-based Uber has been beset by complaints about its workplace culture, a federal inquiry into software to help drivers avoid police, and an intellectual property lawsuit by Waymo, the self-driving car unit of Google parent Alphabet.

Grab's previous investors include sovereign wealth fund China Investment Corp, hedge fund Coatue Management, venture capital firm GGV Capital, and Vertex Ventures Holdings - a subsidiary of Singapore state investor Temasek Holdings.

Supercharged

Lately, my Grab app shows my payment mode as "no cash" . Previously it was showing "cash" and I always pay by cash only. I did not load any credit card details onto the app.

Anyone knows why is it like that ?

Anyone knows how I can contact Grab to fix the problem ?

Grab give $5 off also no use cause the fare shown doesnt include all the ERP charges. So if you take the route with ERP charges, the final fare still the same. Lol.
