Kb27 Supersonic October 3, 2017 Share October 3, 2017 True, many times now i also dont know how uber and grab come up with the surge price? Taxi has flat pricing. Everyone knows what he's paying or overpaying. Uber/Grab has dynamic pricing. Sometimes it's cheap, sometimes expensive, you never really know, compared to flat pricing. So as consumers, you need to check all the time, if you have the inclination. Surge pricing depends on their algorithm. How they program their surge price, no one really knows. And it can change as and when it suits them. If the surge is priced too high, with little demand, their algorithm is supposed to reduce the surge until demands pick up. It also has to match demand with supply. If demand is high, but little supply, surge goes up even higher. If demand is low, with high supply, then surge goes down. Complicated price structure from uber/grab, thats why they can like anyhow priced their surge price. Kb27 Supersonic October 3, 2017 Share October 3, 2017 Although he used to be in the pink of health, his brother said it has been increasingly difficult to wake him up in the mornings. oh dear, I use to wake up to the alarm at 6am to start driving. now I also find it increasingly difficult to wake up at 6am, go back to sleep until 7am. maybe i'll keel over in a couple of weeks time. If your work starts at 8am, most people would need to wake up 5am plus lo, so waking up at 6am consider normal la. But if you wake up 6am and yet still continue to work until 12-1am, then confirm bad for health in long run.

From Ubi to Paragon Uber - $13.69 Comfort - $13.50 Flat Grab - $21 (2 mins later went up to $24 !!!)

No_worries 6th Gear October 3, 2017 Share October 3, 2017 RIP https://www.allsingaporestuff.com/article/uber-driver-dies-shortly-after-picking-rider-likely-overworked-himself Perhaps he has to take on 2 jobs to survive. Driving 300km a day (based on reports that 1 year old pirate hire Kia K3 clock 110,000 km) is no joke. I drove to Cherating 2 years ago (450 km) even with 3 breaks also very tiring. Not to mention the stop and go traffic we have in Singapore and the constant looking out for pedestrians and cars and passengers etc.

Then i wonder how those bus drivers can survive and take it? Since they have to follow bus schedule and driving up and down the same route dont know for how many times per day!? Then i wonder how those bus drivers can survive and take it? Since they have to follow bus schedule and driving up and down the same route dont know for how many times per day!? That's why every driver needs a rest in-between, whether bus, taxi or delivery guy. You can't just continue driving non-stop. You'll make mistake when tired and knock into something or worse, someone. Paying constant attention to jaywalkers, queue cutters, bad drivers, sap your energy.

Since they have to follow bus schedule and driving up and down the same route dont know for how many times per day!?Stop and go plus the added stress and uncertainty in meeting the daily targets set by Uber. Bus driver have more certainty in their shift timing and monthly income. Uber and taxi drivers don't have. I am not one of them but understood it from my conversations with taxi and Uber drivers. Jman888 Moderator October 3, 2017 Share October 3, 2017 when uber/grab launch, they are supposed to be stress free and relax for the driver, shouldn't have such stress like taxi, now it becomes another devil?
Philipkee Twincharged October 4, 2017 Share October 4, 2017 when uber/grab launch, they are supposed to be stress free and relax for the driver, shouldn't have such stress like taxi, now it becomes another devil?Another point. Cos uber/grab have to wait for pings for customers. So it is stressful waiting for the pings knowing that if you are slow you lose the business. It's not like taxi where they can at least wait at taxi stands and so called relax then while passengers come to them. Of cos they can drive around to look for flag downs but at least they have the option.

Jman888 Moderator October 4, 2017 Share October 4, 2017 When have they promised to be stress free for the driver? i thought the concept of PHV is to have control over your own time own target, unlike taxi driver got so many rules and target set by company. ↡ Advertisement
