seriously, nothing to see the side swiped, both are travelling at high speed. I would only say he nv signal while switching lanes.

It is a common sight here not signalling.

True.. The only thing that caught my eye was the cyclist! Coincidentally the same time as the "side swipe".. Lol

Would TS had avoided the side-swipe if he had slowed down and let the Mini cut in ?

I mean TS would have noticed the Mini coming in fast on his right and drifting left....

(edited)

To clarify, I did not notice the Mini at all till he appears right beside me at a speed higher than me, and swerving into my lane, causing me to swerve a bit to my left.

Did you drop your speed when you notice him swerving into your lane ?

This is very typical of our cars exiting expressways. 4-5 lanes cross all at once!

And create a lot of dangerous situation for other road-users.

I dun think TS should slow down for the lane cutter... doing so will endanger the cars behind TS.

if the lane cutter (the mini) wants to cut 4 lanes to his left, he shld have filtered in behind the cars on each lane much earlier before reaching the Stevens road exit...this is driving theory ma...

Also, to cut in abruptly at the last minute, and at high speed and in front of another fast moving car is inviting a major accident on the road... I'm with TS on this case....

Ya.. to cut at high speed in front of TS is utterly foolish.

If TS were to surge his speed while the mini is attempting to overtake him, it'll become an unwitting pit maneuver and send the mini spinning

I can see he is rushing to the next exit. Do have the habit of checking rear mirror regularly for any abnormal drivers. So far, I had anticipated a few near misses. Spending my previous time exchanging horns and vulgarities is complete waste of time and spoiling my mood. So I always choose to ignore and"console" myself by thinking they might have emergency to attend to.

Anyway, your tissue box is indeed irritating.

To support your point of view, I have attached the following excerpt from the Singapore Statutes Online , (Road Traffic Act Chapter 276, Section 140)

Drivers to give signals
2. —(1) The driver of a vehicle on a road shall, in order to inform the traffic that he intends to stop, slow down or to change the direction of the vehicle to the right or to the left, signal his intention by means of an approved type of direction indicator as laid down in the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Construction and Use) Rules (R 9).
(2) Signals under this rule shall always be made in sufficient time to enable traffic to take appropriate action for the avoidance of danger.
Vehicle overtaking and passing another
4. The driver of a vehicle who intends to overtake and pass another vehicle proceeding in the same direction may, if he sees the driver of the latter vehicle make the signal to turn to the right or left as required by rule 2 and take the position required by rule 7, overtake and pass the said vehicle on its left or right side.
Positioning of vehicle before making a turn at road intersection or junction
7. The driver or rider of a vehicle who intends to turn to the right at an intersection or junction of roads shall, before reaching such intersection or junction and as opportunity offers, move into the appropriate lane as indicated by the directional arrows to turn right and any driver or rider of a vehicle intending to turn to the left shall, as opportunity offers, move into the appropriate lane as indicated by the directional arrows to turn left.

Please report this reckless driving to TP/SPF. Thanks!

Btw, I suggest you don't swerve in future, what if you hit a bike in your blind spot?

One way to avoid this kind of driver is to drive closer to the car in front of you.

A little drop in speed won't endanger cars behind lah....I'll not saying he drop his speed suddenly by 20-30 km/h...

I just felt if TS had drop a little speed (just foot off the accerlator pedal), the Mini could have cut thru without touching TS's car. And all can be avoided.

slow down as in release the accelerator for 1 sec, not asking him to jam brake.

Ya, so common. That night one blue Sylphy also cut me in suddenly, I notice him wanting cut into lane 3 from lane 1, from my right, so I drop my speed a little.....if I had not drop speed sure accident one!

Don't say cars on the road, even when we walking on a busy street, also got people cut into our path suddenly, and we just take a step slower not to bang into them.
