Ct3833 Supersonic December 30, 2016 Share December 30, 2016 (edited) Did they say 120 from what department de?Mostly finance and IT. These are backend job that can be easily moved to low cost countries. A lot of finance backend jobs have been moved to dalian of china, and for IT jobs, mostly went to India. I mentioned in one of the posts before that some of the recent job lost will not come back again, these are two among others. inlinesix Hypersonic December 30, 2016 Share December 30, 2016 As the owner of a PI Toyota car, I've been baffled by how BM has continued to coast on Toyota's reputation for reliability from the past (my grandfather owned a Toyota and it was reliable so I shall buy one). The obvious prioritization of BM's profit margin over providing cars equipped with the latest Toyota technology means that our market has been held hostage to the lack of modern features, lower safety standards, and a poorer driving experience that other 'authorized dealer' Toyota cars elsewhere in the world, at a much higher price. The reason Toyota Camrys are the highest selling sedan in the US is because of how well equipped and how good a package it is compared to its rivals at a competitive price, not just a reputation for reliability. Perhaps this would turn the tide and wake senior executives at Inchcape to the fact that they do have to be competitive with features and price as well. How many Singaporean cares about those safety feature mentioned? If consumer stops buying crap product from AD, soon or later we will get better product.

If consumer stops buying crap product from AD, soon or later we will get better product. i observed more uncle / aunty check out korean rides, not to mention a number of younger / mid aged pp checking out popular contis like audi n bmw.. what we need is just conti brands get "cheaper" n somewhat more reliable (not tryin to start another argument of what country made cars more reliable but perception in general has been such - jap cars easier n cheaper to maintain).. but ultimately we r still a small market compared to other countries.. Agree.....was waiting for someone to say that, thanks Bro. Yes, even simple/not so expensive options eg radar cruise/pre crash - AD refused! executive lounge version for alphard V6 option another example - power boot/sunroof/window blinds for camry Hope your post will be noted by BM/Lexus etc - good for them to have urgent meeting/strategy! Victor68 Turbocharged December 30, 2016 Share December 30, 2016 No idea man..they just invested on a whole new facility I think at west coast. In all re-structuring and cost cutting measures usually the "top" and bottom hit 1st. The center portion should be ok cost those are the "working" people. Not performing and not contributing plus high pay sure hit hard. I hope we do have a department in Sg that monitor company 'restructuring'. Now they say they are retrenching 120 to cut cost. In less than a year, their staff strength is back to more than 120 of FT. Then what happen? Reason being biz demand?

BM and Lexus wont be bothered, the whole reason they have been importing low spec cars was to lower their cost so as to maximise profit. This is the typical greed of a public listed companies. The CEO/CFO vision is to reduce cost, maximise profit to move their share price so that the very few at the top management would get their insane pay out and share option. The retrenchment is just another cost cutting move for the same reason. So dont expect them to bring in high spec cars to take care of consumer insterest. No_worries 6th Gear December 31, 2016 Share December 31, 2016 I have mentioned before. Toyotas will always appeal to a large segment of Singapore car buying population who wants a good driving experience. The definition of good driving experience is vey subjective, but most of us will agree that a large segment of the car buying population in Singapore define good driving experience as 'turn the key and drive and no breakdowns despite not being diligent in servicing the car, i.e reliability, dependability, loyal and unquestioning work horse'. The 'feel' and the 'road holding' of the car is not the most important and definitely not the deciding factor in the car buying process. Even if individual car owners look away from Toyota, car rental companies such as Uber LCR will be more willing to buy Altis and rent it out because let's be honest, the maintenance cost is lower and this means higher turnaround and greater profits. As the owner of a PI Toyota car, I've been baffled by how BM has continued to coast on Toyota's reputation for reliability from the past (my grandfather owned a Toyota and it was reliable so I shall buy one). Just as what i said , due to corporate greed, the top is looking for more sales, lower cost. Many american public listed corporations have been doing this for years, this is just the beginning , there will be more to come. Kopites Supersonic December 31, 2016 Share December 31, 2016 I just don't understand. The sum don't add up. Recently they just completed a new building to house champion and Toyota along padan crescent. Shouldn't they be increasing headcount instead of cutting down? ↡ Advertisement
