What about flat6? Why 911 use flat6.

 

Partly because it started out as an aircooled engine I think. Spaced out cylinders more efficient for air cooling.

Flat engines have much lower Centre of Gravity, meaning less roll, you can fit a thinner anti-roll bar, giving better comfort without sacrifying handling too much. The bonnet can also be lower for aerodymanic/aesthetic improvements.

 

Of course the downside is double the number of cam shafts, and very wide engines.

Whether it is V6 or V8, they are all powerful engines. Gotta also look at the weight of your car.

 

Need to overcome that before it can really fly.

Modern V8 are usually Twin Turbocharged,even with a over 2.5 tons body like Mercedes Benz S-Class, Rolls Royce Ghost & Bentley,the car is still faster than MANY lower end sports car,most of it clocked 0-100 km/h in less than 6 secs. [thumbsup][smash]
