ya, but while they are not cleaning with water, they are also not clearing the fallen leaves... Anywy dat's OT... Is it enough? I mean what if really one day we do need to do water rationing, do all the residents or anyone knows where will be the water point? How many pails of water will be enough for each household?

We have been very complacent recently (Checkpoint breach, Little India riot etc)... isn't it time to test our readiness?

I know where is water point...having experienced water rationing when mata wear shorts n fire hydrant is the water point.

Now, my qtns are "does yr area hv a fire hydrant n do u know where it is located"?

Town council already started sending out mailers to resident.

Saying not washing the estate. Something like that.

But they didnt mention deduct any conservative charge.

Excuse for them to cut cost, yet the S&C will increase next month.

Save water... shower together!

Might as well all go swimming pool shower.

I know, there are a few at my area, so my next question - Which fire hydrant and how many blocks can it served?

that is a tricky one which only the relevant dept can answer you.

based on my experience, one hydrant can served one row of shophouses. and there were alot of wastage cos no tap being attached to hydrant. furthermore, it need to run for awhile to clear away the coloured water before it can be used.

Again, it proved my point to have an exercise. If not, chaos... I take from here then go there take again...

rem the saying ... it never rains but pours ... once the rain comes, then we will hear news of floods in JB.

 hah !

just as i expected ... floods all over the place ... but just not at the right location - the reservoir.

But still no MPs want to initiate a water rationing exercise...  [mad]  [thumbsdown]

I think this would need a lot of logistics and a lot of buy-in from the public as this will ultimately cause quite a fair bit of inconvenience to the public ... hence they are probably making the plans now...

Let them plan and we will have to give our support if the exercise does eventually carried out ....

This discussion was started in Mar 2014 by moi with the same dry spell... One yr and a half yr had passed, election had been over... the water rationing was tried and tested in the 80s... now still have to plan? And buy-in? I don't even see, hear any efforts on possibility of water rationing... Quote:

<Singapore's strategy of diversifying its water supply "has served us well", said Mr Masagos. The PUB has been running desalination and NEWater plants at high capacity to keep local reservoir stocks healthy.>

One word - Complacency, never ever take the weather or technology for granted... there will be time when it breaks down...
