7 seats MPV or 2 Sedans

Hello MCFers,

My friend fimaly members increased, he owns one sedan, now hesitating to change sedan to 7 seater MPV or buy another 2nd Sedan,

please advise

 

 

Whether have 2 sedans, 1x sedan + 1x MPV, 1x sedan + 1x small hatch....whatever - all have their good and bad points.

 

Its really up to the 2 drivers in the family preference of what sort of vehicle they like to drive.

Else like my case, current sedan and a budget Suzuki swift for flexibility

 

Flexibility to chiong somewhere swiftly, and also come back swiftly, or stealthy too ?

Increase from how many to how many? I presume it has increased to exceed the max. no. people that a sedan can sit comfortably.

 

Just dun be like my fren whom I tink he has a strange tinking... changed last year from a sedan to MPV (both used cars) based on his theory:

 

1) in preparation for kids ... but wife still not pregnant yet

2) to drive his in-laws around.... but they dun stay in SG & hardly come to SG

3) drive his parents around... but he works 5 day week

 

dun know wat kind of logic is tat...

Tot 1xMPV + 1xroadster was the best suggestion. But you top that. Can't go wrong with 2 MPV.

If your friend is heeding govt's advice, then just go for one MPV, so as not to clog up S'pore roads further, and free up one COE (so that it will enhance remotely the chance of COE coming down - since my car will reach 10 yr in 06...).

 

Family expanded... that likely means might need to take in more people when the whole family is going out, which is likely to be weekend going out together, in which case one MPV is sufficient.

 

Will only need 2 cars (whatever the combination of sedan/mpv) if the family needs to bring the whole family out at the same time, but to maybe different locations.

 

Bear in mind 2 cars means, 2 x (drivers, road tax, insurance, parking, maintenance, servicing, instalments/loans, etc.).

I used to work in the CBD so MRT was not an issue, but now with change of job role i hafta run around the island the whole day.

 

After looking at the 2nd hand mkt day in day out nite in nite out till my CO kbkb, i decided to just do weekday rental.

 

I picked an Altis for abt 220 a week, pick up Monday drop off Friday evening. Clock abt 500km

 

No worries abt road tax, ins, maintenance etc.

 

And ill tell the rental co, i wan the same car back next week and place a deposit.

 

Of course, if you have more than 3 kids then no need to say sure need MPV or your helper needs to follow you

Our config is 1xMPV and 1xSedan.

 

I think that is a nice combination. Space + flexibility for 2 driver families.

 

Choice of MPV and sedan depending on budget of course.

 

If not, then 2 sedans. Drive 2 cars concurrently if there is a crowd. But hopefully it is not too often.

daily transport for working, occasionally fetch child from primary school, weekend family outing, school holiday self-driving north etc, wife can drive and half time working, half time housework, eldest daughter with driving license study at local university,

my friend thinking either new MPV or 2nd hand Sedan, cannot afford existing sedan + new MPV/Sedan

well, with the above in mind, IMHO, i will look at the Exora.

it is HUGE and with enough boot space even with 8 pax in the car.

 

alternatively, you can look at a smaller hatch to compliment your altis, since your girl have a driving license. think QQ or chery.

but parking will be a problem when going out with 2 cars.

If your friend drive a performance car, higher end cars, he wouldn't be able to drive a MPV for long.

 

So I support 2 sedans.

 

 

Like me, suffering driving MPV and end up changing back to sedan.

MPV is not really much longer than sedan,

look at nowadays BMW/Merc/Audi all are almost 5 meters

I suffer from, lack of power.

 

Once you drive MPV, some people will start to ask you to help in:-

- Borrow your car pls as I need a MPV to bring several people around Sin/Mys

- Move cargo.
