JX83 3rd Gear April 9, 2016 Share April 9, 2016 I can't help but wonder why the negative reviews are mostly by members that has only recently joined. Whilst the more positive ones are by folks that has joined for at least 1 - 2 years. Just my two cents. Because mostly all Lao jiao liao.. Like me u see me lurking in all the suv tread lol.. Reading up all the pros and cons of the car models and of course feedback from my colleagues and friends driving all the different brands.. When I wan to buy a car usually take me many months to decide.. And since price still high and still lots of time for me I will take my time to gather all the info haha.. ↡ Advertisement
Lhk657 2nd Gear April 9, 2016 Share April 9, 2016 Beside cheaper, any reason to use outside engine oil? One of my previous car was a sunny. Using their fasflow is ok for daily commuting. For Qashqai, still have not went for 10k servicing yet, not sure if their engine fasflow is ok with Qashqai but I believe is ok. From my knowledge from Friends owning Audis, VW, Mercs etc, turbo-charged engines tends to burn engine oil thus need a little to-up occasionally. From mileage of 20k and onwards, servicing package does not include include engine oil.Fastflo cost $80 before gst whereas esso fully synthetic only cost 59.90 with gst.

Am super super picky about engine oil . Was told on phone that TC no longer uses Fasflo. Instead that they use Nissan Oil . Looks like I have to double confirm and physically sight the oil container or ask to see my car in the workshop itself when they are changing oil. Only the very big oils and the very best car manufacturers will be able to access the top premium base oils and propriety additives simply because they are not made available to others (they just don't) .It is possible that engine oil is slightly consumed if engine is equipped with a turbo charger since engine is generally hotter than a naturally aspirated one and checking oil level is a useful guide. Whether this is hot enough to do so with the QQ should be observed. Good to check for some free oil to top up on own

For reason mentioned about engine oil burning for turbocharged cars ?

EricChan 5th Gear April 9, 2016 Share April 9, 2016 (edited) Remember there's one post before about TC poured too much engine oil during servicing. For reason mentioned about engine oil burning for turbocharged cars ? Possible. While generally safe I would hesitate to top up a brand with another . Say if I have Nissan Oil, I would top up with Nissan oil , because the interaction between Nissan synthetic oil and say Mobil 1 (which is also synthetic) is unknown. Their formulations are different . It may be benign , it may not be so but the tests were not done (components within them could interact to say form gel under hot conditions, or impact certain properties - you can't observe effects of these interactions if you mix them under normal room temperature) . Say you change oil brand : ok if you drain completely , very little of stuff one left to affect the different EO you put it. Needless to say mixing mineral oil , semi -synthetic and synthetic is a no no No. Edited April 9, 2016 by EricChan
