Nissan Qashqai 2014

I do not have any major issues with my 1.2 for the past 2 months.

The only problem I have is the rattling, or rather, knocking sound behind my steering wheel. That happens only when my car is not warmed up. After warmed for few minutes, you do not hear this knocking sound.

FC wise, I found it acceptable. for a full tank of 95, this car can clock around 630 to 7xx km. Quite sensitive to your road conditions. But I have not been able to clock amazing FC that some bros here do.

Over taking and moving off from traffic lights are never a problem. Power comes when you need as long as you know how CVT works.

Overall, happy with the car. Just hope that the electronic parts can last 10 years.

Was torn between the Bronze and Nightshade. In the end, I got the latter. Was told the Pearl White needed to top-up $1K.

Hi all,

I am very mixed between QQ1.2T and Corolla Altis. Need some feedback and suggestion from all.

1.FC for both car? I travel around 30k per annum.. FC is very important for me

2. Which has bigger space? I have a 16month toddler and has a car seat. Maybe will plan for a 2nd 1 in 2018 :p

3. Hear that QQ1.2T turbo will cause alot of problem in future cos we are constantly over stretching the engine. Is it true? Alot of similar feedback in UK forum

4. Maintenace services between BM and TCSC?

5. Which 1 has a more comfortable ride. Especially for kids

I am driving a C4 now, and the servicing is burning a hole in my pocket. Anything you cant think off has failed in my case. Though new conti runs on diesel, which running cost really attracts me, but thinking of the servicing really gives me triple tots.

Toyota altis has lesser problem... Parts are easily available since it is toyota and servicing at outside workshops is possible and plentiful.. QQ1.2T is using turbo.. Hence Servicing outside might not be safe. If you read this forum and UK's.. You can see the many problems with QQ1.2T, unless you are very free to visit TC frequently and vommit blood at the people there who have no clue to the problems and just smoke out... Btw, you may look at TC Servicing charge for qq1.2t.. It is almost the same as teana for a low end car Edited by Hd2004

Agree on the smoke out and clueless part...

Had the good fortune to drive the new Altis for about 1.5 years and now on the 1.2 QQ so here are my personal experiences and feeling on your questions.

1. Comparable. I feel the QQ has better FC if you travel highway more but worse than Altis if you do normal roads more. Could also be because I tend to push down on accelerator more when moving off from traffic light.

2. The Altis is definitely more spacious inside. The QQ has larger seats but much smaller leg room at the rear. Also, Altis does not have the middle hump at the back so the floor is flat.

3. I dont know. Not the future yet. Maybe the turbo pro bros can provide more insight.

4. No offence if anyone is a TCSC fan but BM service is better.

5. Altis has softer suspension so generally a more comfortable ride.

That being said, I didn't quite like the Altis because of its soft steering even at high speed. I get quite nervous going over 100km/h and having to grip the steering hard. The QQ steering and control is really a lot better than the Altis over this. It's light at low speed and tighter at higher speed. There's also a sports mode that I heard makes the steering even tighter, but I have never tried it.

Hope this helps!

Different class altogether . Altis even premium is too basic - it's HU is terrible , everything inside very plastic. However QQ upfront cost will be more . As is operating cost . Better to include Kia K3 or Hydundai Elantra into the mix if cost with relatively good features are priority. I would hesitate taking a non-AD route because cars are so integrated to electronic systems that when electronic components malfunction in the longer term with time these workshops will almost certainly not have a recourse nor the clout to go to manufacturers and get their help in troubleshooting or support and effectively you will be on your own (although some AD workshops have less than flattering feedbacks) Edited by EricChan

When the car is new, everything is good. Prepare yourself after 3 years later. Wear n tear is coming.

Compare QQ1.2T & Altis, I would refer Altis, in the sense, spare parts easy to get from outside workshops, spares & labour charge can be justified. QQ1.2T is a turbo car, I believe the wear & tear will be more than Altis.

I drove a Fiat Bravo 1.4T, good power when you need it from a 1.4cc engine. But pocket will have a big hole when things wear out.

I felt the car structure is not able to handle that kind of power after a long run.

If you really need a like a SUV or crossover, Honda vezel or Subaru XV (NA engine) will be a better choice.

No offense to all QQ drivers here. Peace.

I never had the power loss issue since having the car from 2015 February.

I am not saying the problem isn't real but I think some people here are mistaking it for the safety feature of turbocharger not kicking in early when you floor the accelerator after making a sharp turn or U-turn.

That said, I only experienced this safety feature once shortly after collection, after that I learnt to adapt my foot to the accelerator response, know when to floor and not to floor, all okay liao.

Seats wrinkled, go back to the local installer. Check your Nissan manual, there's a warranty card for it with contact & address - 36 months limited warranty.

Seriously, if one has read this thread, one is able to tell who is TC agents "contributing" to this thread;-)

By the way, those who are going to test drive the car.. You may have the feeling of driving an elephant.. And a stubborn one :)

Totally agree with you. The plastic inside the Altis looks quite dated. And one should compared the Altis to other sedan like Sylphy and Mazda 3 etc .. not a crossover like QQ.

Should buy a car based on your budget and your liking (sedan vs hatch back vs SUV/crossover). To most Singaporeans, the car is the second most expensive purchase after our house. To me, when i went to the showroom, the QQ was love at first sight (the front looks muscular and trendy at the same time. The rear hatchback with the taillights look good). After the test drive and a look at the interior, it does like "premium" and the fact that after driving so many sedans, I want a crossover type of car.

Crossover is a new market segment and is trendy now. just take a look and you see lots of SUV/crossover on the roads .... Audi/BMW/Lexus/Mitsubishi/Hyundai/Mazda/Subaru etc. I am happy to see these on the roads and telling myself "I am glad I crossover"  [:p] No regrets so far after driving the 1.2QQ for a few months although it does have some minor defects. But nothing which makes me regret my decision on the QQ.

Enjoy the ride and make the car your slave. I own the car interior and the look and feel is very important. We don't the exterior of the car (had a dimple on my left rear door within the first month of collecting my QQ [:(] ).

So may I ask who are you insinuating to be these agents by quoting my post then removing it?

Nissan833 you definitely not an agent, so strong words from you lambasting at TC at one time. Actually despite the statement I am clueless as to who can be (in my opinion none are). It would be good though for TC to take notice and make continuous improvements plans from the feedbacks Edited by EricChan
