Hi QQ owners, do you have any recommendations on the window solar film i.e. 3m, vkool, HO etc and kindly advise which good lobang (i.e. price and installer) to recommend.

Thank you very much!!!!

I have tried both vkool and rike cool before.

Both ok if you choose the higher priced packages (around $1000 where rear Infra Red blocking > 85%).

They do the job of reducing the sting of hot sun on the skin when it shines thru the window (esp. for the rear windows where LTA allow the higher solar blocking).

For rike cool, if you go there when one particular male boss is around, he will have interesting ideas to modify the standard package (at no extra cost to you) to get more out of the solar film.  For example, for my rear window, he asked the staff to add an extra layer of a lower grade film on top of the standard higher grade found in my package - since the standard is quite transparent and so can afford another layer to add extra blocking without exceeding the LTA transparency limit. (He even offered to do other interesting things after the staff had already completed all work - which would have meant the staff would have to redo if I had taken up his other offer; luckily for his staff - I did not take up the other offer).

For rike cool, workmanship may not be that consistent if they are in a rush but not to worry, they are very friendly and have no problem if you go back to ask them to redo - even if it means they have to strip and redo (rather than touch up).  Just book an appointment before hand.  (Talking about appointments, if you call to make appointment, talk to the receptionist in Chinese else it will be quite a difficult conversation in English).

I changed from vkool to rike cool because vkool blocks GPS signal somewhat (esp. for the back seat) so decided to try rikecool where there is no such blockage.  But if you are not the type to use GPS from the backseat (I am a backseat driver sometimes to double check on the navigation - esp. if in Malaysia), the vkool is quite ok (the GPS blockage is minor for front seat).

Have not tried the rest - cannot comment there.

There are some FC feedbacks so far.

What octane petrol is used ?

Min is 95 for QQ 1.2T, was told.

ESSO98 used since day 1.

Minimal load, usually driver + passenger only, 19" rims and tires with throttle controller, high mileage user usually 70% highway, 30% city driving, speedo cluster FC reading is 14.2km/L, average reading I get is 15km/L at least for my usual routes. More like 9-10km/L for short city drives.

Very seldom on Sport mode (shift your gear lever to right on D mode), ECO mode turned off. Not very heavy foot, not very light footed as well  [drivingcar]

In the glove box , open the fuse panel see is tht bunch of cable loose

My glovebox have the rattle noise.. Told the SA explicitly about the issue and told him don't have to even try to repeat the scenario to hear the sound because the sound will automatically appear while driving over bumpy road surfaces of MSCP slopes / ramps.. Tell me ok. Solved.

Drive out 5min later sound still there.

For mine, I check the cables seemed to be tucked properly. The rattle sounds like the glove box door itself.. because if I exert pressure on it, the rattle is gone, so most probably the hinge.

JSeo, about sgd160 and I cannot see why warranty is affected with added alarm system which they also offer in all their other models ...never heard warranty affected from any AD due to aftermarket alarm system and steelmate some more. Btw, reported cannot lock with hazard lights on without setting off alarm for conti car with this steelmate alarm did not happened. No brainer mod for safety imho !

Hi,

Thanks for the info.

Just concerned cos hear of a recent on-going case of another Japanese car company not allowing installation of alarm system if car is made in Japan.

Just to add on the differences. And what does computerised display mean? They are both the same (except for some features)? no.. [:p]

Pro: DRL switchable, 2.0L engine, no start stop, 19" stock rims/tyres, roof rack, driver electric seat, moon roof, 200 vs 165Nm torque, 142 vs 114bhp, autodim rear-view mirror, stock leather seat, speedometer in km/h, spare tyre, bixenon light

Con: No computerised display, higher road tax, higher fuel consumption overall, about 100kg heavier, no digital speedometer, no in-built motion sensor, cannot switch off passenger airbag, more expensive (12k more?)

Hi Teycz,

Thanks for the correction and additions.  Cheers !

Richard

Hi Jseo,

I c ... but AD can always claim warranty void for any modification, including rim or tyre if you change them ... for say, prematured worn out bearing ??  Not sure when alarm can void but AD cannot claim warranty void for engine if you installed alarm right .... unless you allow them ??  Cheers,

Richard

On the rattling noise, why tolerate this: I will hold his ( or else the service manager's) feet to the fire and get them to change the hinge, or glove box or whatever it takes to remove it.

95 is fine according to the thin small booklet issued with the car Edited by EricChan

Audi design looks the same everytime..... Get the new GLC or X1. You cannot compare the quality of jap design car to German premium cars. If u compare QQ with Opel than I think Nissan might had did a better job.

Nah not comparing just the quality but rather the QC. Although Jap cars are priced lower(thus everyone say cannot compare, sure lose out...), their QC is supposed to be good, and well known for reliability. And seriously if you just want to go for lower price, then just buy korean or china cars. So the lower price should not be an excuse for all the problems. I know 1.2t is built in Sunderland, but the nissan brand name shld ensure quality.

Also, TC is terrible in providing services as well as their lack of technical expertise to solve problems (seriously, why should we pay premiums to buy new cars if it comes with that much problem). I believe some of us would share my view, buying a new car is all about fuss free, free of worries, So if there are so many problems with QQ and TC are helpless, then it doesnt make sense, It just goes to show that TC is incapable.  Regardsless A4 or not, this is my first and most probably my last Nissan ever. Just like it doesnt matter how good they make iphone, if their appstore is crap, who would buy? TC is really disappointing.

The perfect car has never been built n will never be built. Check out all other forums, you will see issues whether it is Mazda 3 , Vezel , etc. And after what VW or its consorts of sister companies (Audi, Porsche etc) has tried to cheat with the diesel scandal, you wanna bet they didn't take short cuts in long term reliability in componentary, parts and QAQC . So you rather trust them after they were caught lying that they didn't take a risk in other things as well? I for one would be cautious . Edited by EricChan

Well, I was the one who sent in the car but didn't collect it myself as I was overseas. My bro collected it on my behalf and realised the sound was still there after leaving the service centre.

The thing is, I need the car for my daily biz needs. I already catered 2 days for servicing and rectification of this problem, yet they told me it is resolved when it is not. Now need to fork out time and be without my car again. Then tell me no courtesy car available when it's not even my fault that I have to go back again. I wonder if they actually tried to repair the thing.

Very disappointed with Nissan Ubi.

Nissan ubi servicing is contractor firm (although maybe owned by Tc), training wise and personal accountability may not be as thorough as in house employee?. How come no service car, I would raise it with the sc, and go higher

Disappointed if that's the case.... Reminds me of vag servicing last time as well. I think your glove box became loose after fitting the cables for camera? I just check mine and there is a lose cable behind that is hitting the glove box causing some sound. The HU definitely have rattling when go over bad roads. Need to take out HU and tape up all the cables....

Been driving the qashqai 1.2 for bout 6 months now and have encountered the car don't move even though step on accelerator problem at the traffic light a couple of times before. However, the worst was when I was going up the Somserset 313 carpark which is high and quite steep. On the way up, there was a sudden loss of power even though I am still stepping on the accelerator. The engine acted like I released the accelerator and slowed down but all the time I was in fact stepping on it (even floored it at times but still slowing down). This happened a few times before I managed to reach the carpark.

Anyone experienced this before?

What did TC say about the car problems?

This is the infamous power loss issue that bug a few owners some months back but I had the impression that it was solved. The SE at Tan Chong told me they replaced a certain chip and its solved. Never heard anyone talk about it for a while.
