Topspin 2nd Gear March 11, 2014 Share March 11, 2014 I recently flew to Seoul on MAS.. fly SIN-KUL-ICN-KUL-SIN.. Business class ticket $400 more expensive the SQ Economy. Before the days of cheap budget airlines, I would fly via Senai Airport by taking the connecting bus ride. True, the business class from Senai is sometimes even cheaper than an economy from SG to the same destination. Get to eat like a pig for free in the lounge somemore! Proton_neutron 1st Gear March 11, 2014 Share March 11, 2014 Flightradar24 is just a website, not an actual radar system. It's highly unlikely that it's a terrorist attack now, as nobody has claimed the attack. Sabotage.... Maybe, but not likely done by passengers and crews onboard the aircraft. It could jolly well be ground handling crews messing about the aircraft. KLIA is one of the most prestigious airports in Asia. Surely they aren't that stupid to screw up their management systems, including security. In any case, I'm pretty sure that right now here in Singapore, there are tourists or workers who came in on stolen/ fake passports. I believe it's rather easy to change the identity photo and data of a stolen passport, especially one that hasn't had its data in a foreign country. As for Malaysia Airlines and plane makers, including ATR, Boeing, Airbus, Gulfstream, Bomboardier, they should have standard fitting cameras and network monitoring systems. Modifications should now be in place for older variants of aircraft that do not have these systems. It's a good wake up call this incident.

Most data on Flightradar24 are pretty accurate because they take the location data from transponders installed in most commercial airliners and relay it in real time to it's servers. How accurate is it? I've sat in the lounge in Hanoi airport overlooking the runway and tarmac, and then monitoring (both on FR24 and visually) the SQ plane i'm flying back with, landing at the airport. The position of the plane is at most 2 or 3 seconds behind real time. Of course, the planes has to be in range of a ground based receiving unit in order for the data to be be relayed to the servers. MH370, which took off at around 12:40 am on Saturday, had enough fuel for around 8 hours of flight. " Edited March 11, 2014 by Jman888

Darthrevan Supercharged March 11, 2014 Share March 11, 2014 Missing Malaysia Airlines plane: Malaysian authorities clarify that footballer Balotelli was merely used as reference Italian footballer Mario Balotelli was roped into the crisis surrounding missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 in a bid to shed light on the appearance of the two men who boarded the flight with stolen passports. In a statement on Tuesday, the Crisis Communication Centre explained that Department of Civil Aviation director-general Azharuddin Abd Rahman had merely used the footballer as a reference. "No ill feelings were meant to the personality concerned. We hope this clarifies the issue," the statement said. Mr Azharuddin had drawn flak from netizens over his remarks. During a press conference on Monday, he had denied earlier reports which claimed that the two men were Asian looking. The DCA chief then sought to emphasise that skin colour does not indicate nationality by citing Balotelli - a Ghanaian-born striker with AC Milan - as an example. "Do you know a footballer by the name of Bartoli (sic)? He's an Italian. Do you know what he looks like? Balotelli," he told reporters. "I don't want to dwell about this but they (nationality and race) are not the same thing," he added. Shull Turbocharged March 11, 2014 Share March 11, 2014 did u watch that youtube claiming flightradar updated MH370's flight path? any comments? Just saw it. Not sure which data is the authentic one as it only shows 2 different scenarios of the plane going down at 2 different locations. If the 2nd one (the one it shows going down south of Hainan island) is true, then i'm sure PRC will start another SAR operation near there since it's so near their territory, and more than half of the passengers on the plane are PRC citizens.
