Deckbuild 6th Gear February 27, 2014 Author Share February 27, 2014 http://www.todayonline.com/world/selangor-start-water-rationing-dry-spell-continues Selangor to start water rationing as dry spell continues KUALA LUMPUR — Hit by a prolonged dry spell, Selangor will start rationing water to 60,000 households from tomorrow until March 31. Residents will alternate between having two days of water and two days without, said Mr Yusuf Saroji, the Operations Executive Director of Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor (Syabas), which supplies water to Selangor. “However, exceptions will be (made for) hospitals, welfare homes, dialysis centres and if a death occurs,” he said, adding that water tankers will also be sent to places scheduled to receive supply but whose taps remain dry. Zones that are scheduled to receive water will receive it at 4pm for 41 hours until the supply is stopped at 9am two days later. For those that have been scheduled to be without water, the supply will stop for 55 hours from 9am until 4pm two days later, he added. Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim announced on Monday that rationing would start yesterday and blamed Syabas for not having a contingency plan for scheduling water distribution in the state. At a press conference yesterday, Syabas Technical Development Executive Director V Subramaniam said the company had earlier submitted a detailed plan for the water distribution schedule to affected areas to the National Water Services Commission, which approved it only on Monday. The hot spell has caused ammonia levels in raw water sources to rise, causing Syabas to shut down two water treatment plants since Jan 28. Several places in Selangor have gone without water for the past week. Deputy Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water, Mr Mahdzir Khalid, had earlier announced that cloud seeding will be carried out in water catchment areas soon to prevent a water crisis in the Klang Valley. Malaysia has experienced a hot spell since early last month, with some areas charting temperatures close to 40°C. The prolonged dry spell has tripled the number of forest and bush fires in Penang over the past few weeks. Penang Fire and Rescue Department Operations Centre Officer Y Anbarasan told the Malay Mail that the number of fires from January has reached a new high of 1,210 compared to 370 cases in the same period last year. Most fires occurred in forests, bushes and landfills. Last week, the state of Negeri Sembilan declared a state of crisis after taps ran dry in several thousand households. Maybe from different nationalities in singapore hahaha So if u want sinkees one u need to pay slightly more. But the limited edition one will be the Eurasian Source Up for awareness. Hopefully the rain come back soon... I think car washing quite a little only especially if u go car wash as their jet pump would mean less water but still high pressure. Think whole car water would only require half bathub. So i suggest people to stop using bathub when u clean your self And please dont anyhow flush ur toilet, if no smelly dont flush ↡ Advertisement
