GLZT 6th Gear February 24, 2014 Share February 24, 2014 Just wanted to ask owners of cars that came with Start/Stop system,do you off it everytime you start your car.? Sometimes, off it during jam when I know I'm going to be inching a lot. Its quite irritating, I know they say the starter motor is build for it. But I still have my doubt's, sometimes stop less than 1 second must move off again.

BluBlur 1st Gear February 24, 2014 Share February 24, 2014 It has become a habit. After starting engine while waiting for warm up, turn off this function. Enable only when at junction with long stop time.

Watwheels Supersonic February 25, 2014 Share February 25, 2014 (edited) Can't help but think this feature is more useful to the car makers to achieve lower CO2 emission on city driving. You know, to pass emission standard. Bluff ppl. They should refine it by allowing users to adjust the delay time before the function kicks in. Hmmm, I read somewhere that Mazda start/stop feature does not rely on starter motor, they use a technology develop by bosch that will calculate the piston that got the best position, and combusting that particular chamber to fire the engine up. Seems like a better idea than building a stronger starter motor. But I do believe its quite dangerous for the engine.
Roh96 6th Gear February 25, 2014 Share February 25, 2014 Just curious, when the engine is off, will the a/c still work as normal, blowing cold air? Tho my car don't have this function, but I don't fancy this feature and will probably switch it off like most of you did. Skeptical that the starter motor will kaput prematurely. Opel17 6th Gear February 25, 2014 Share February 25, 2014 Will the battery be able to last for 2 years with the frequent start/stop, as every starting of engine would draw high amount of current from battery ?
Nzy Twincharged February 25, 2014 Share February 25, 2014 Removed it from my family's car cuz it kept causing problems for the starter motor. Think its cuz I always drive in heavy traffic and the engine have to restart every 10s. After removing now no more problems with the car already. Friendstar Supercharged February 25, 2014 Share February 25, 2014 I saw this feature work in an aunty driving a 7 series. its super irritating. Imagine having to always restart your PC by pushing the restart button. I dunno. I feel uncomfortable with the idea ↡ Advertisement
