As compare to China Robot ..... [flowerface]

Farmer Wu Yulu drives his rickshaw pulled by a his self-made walking robot near his home in a village at the outskirts of Beijing January 8, 2009. This robot is the largest development of hobby inventor Wu, who started to build robots in 1986, made of wire, metal, screws and nails found in rubbish sites. (REUTERS/Reinhard Krause)

I think it's awesome but I know people who get freaked when watching these videos.

For example the LS3 looks like an evolution of the Big Dog and one girl I know cannot watch any video of Big Dog in it's entirety.

Yeah. Next thing ppl ask will be,"does the robot has a daugther?". LoL....

Can't help but think robot developments are mostly for military use.

Was listening to the Click podcast and I came across this nugget of info...

The race event of the 2014 Robot World Cup held in Seoul was won by a team from Singapore. Team Red Adam.

I can't find any info anywhere about this! Anyone know any info?

Why is there no publicity for this?

A humanoid running robot is hugely entertaining :D

And the very fact that a team from SG won... we should be reading more about this.

Google is a black hole about this... I have no clue who Team Red Adam are. No pics of the winning robot... nothing [dizzy]

Only know cos I listen to various podcasts and the BBC Click was playing in the background when I was working. Sheesh...

What kind of robot [grin]

humanoid. Proper legs, arms. Transformer like. About 40cm tall. They have this race every year in Seoul apparently.

From the podcast, I learnt that the 2012 winning robot walked 40 meters in 37 mins. Last year, the winning robot walked 120 mts in 7 mins.

They are trying to develop a humanoid robot that can beat a human team in football by 2050 :D that's the goal

I know the team from NUS that was involved in the soccer RoboCup back in 2010.. Quite amazing considering that the robots need to do balancing to prevent them from falling over, and if they fall over, it needs to be able to recover by itself.

+1

Robotics is such a cool sector. It needn't be just about a humanoid robot and playing soccer. There are so many applications of AI... whether it be a roomba or even military tech for drones, bomb disposal etc.

I just think that having positive news such as this Red Adam team etc will have piqued the interest of young Singaporeans
