Marco Mattiacci really got a raw deal.

He left a successful post as head of Ferrari North America to be parachuted into Ferrari F1 to help save the team. Now he is left jobless.

He should have said NO to LdM.

Turbocharged

Rules always change every season. [shakehead]

with the new engine, fine tuning the rules along the way is inevitable.

I am against double points for the last race. can't imagine Ham lose his WDC title to Ros due to double points at the last race.

I also agree that there shouldn't be this double points last race rule cos the overall winner should be based on the whole season performance.

That said, I must add however that this rule made the final race more exciting; at least till Rosberg lost power else without this double points rule, we wouldn't have a possible climax, so can't have everything I suppose!!

that's what i thought too.

ferrari failure is over the last 2-3 years, not just this year alone.

McLaren confirm Alonso and Button for 2015

http://www.formula1.com/news/headlines/2014/12/16720.html

Jenson Button will partner Fernando Alonso at McLaren next year, after the team announced the two former champions as their race drivers for the 2015 Formula One season on Thursday

I think Button will suffer. His driving skills will not be on par with Alonso. My guess, he will be the 2nd driver now. Will need to give way to Alonso. Code word : Alonso is faster than u. [grin]

Button knows where he stand. he is lucky he still driving for McLaren next season. could have ended in Sauber instead......or doing full time triathlon. [laugh]

Jenson is the type of driver that can deliver mostly when the track conditions are evolving (HUN 06, CAN 11) or when he hits the sweet spot for the car (first part of 2009, some races in McLaren).

Other times when he does seem lost at sea when his teammate was putting the car on pole in 2012 does make you wonder if if the 2013/2014 McLaren cars are REALLY that bad.

I won't say he is bad but you don't wins 15 races for nothing. He still has one year in him..

Hopefully he can do his proper goodbyes and let MAG take over his seat in 2016...He (MAG) IMHO deserves a proper race seat..

Thks for the link, seems like he's not driven a notable drive since Aussie GP of 2012; that's more than 2 years!!

Some say its the car..

But then having said that, there were times in 2012 when Button seemed lost at sea while Hamilton was taking the car to P1 (though Ham did retire THREE times while in the lead) but i think SkyF1 has presented quite a good comparison..

It's harsh but I'd say McLaren paid the price in 2013/2014 for not having a tier 1 driver.

Let's see how they go in 2015 with ALO around.
