Kobey 1st Gear February 17, 2014 Share February 17, 2014 (edited) Was traveling at NSHW today from Malacca and encounter this close shave. Some of the debris hit my car number plate and caused some chip on it. Was thanking my lucky stars that things did not turn out worse than it is. Debris could have flew higher and hit my car/windscreen, the truck could have served into my lane or even worse, flip. Also thankful that the car behind me wasn't that close (but I usually keep a constant lookout to make sure I am not blocking anyone) so when I braked, it had time to react. Didn't jam brake as I doubt the car behind could react as his view of the situation was likely blocked. Deckbuild 6th Gear February 18, 2014 Share February 18, 2014 Is that a brand new truck? Look like chassis only which anything else. Also in future, always keep a look and hear out, it's very obvious when their tyres are giving way, damn bloody loud from far, the smoke is also an indication. Kena a few times already. Matoonia 6th Gear February 18, 2014 Share February 18, 2014 Lucky the NSHW not too congested, leaving some room for the truck to manoevre.
Myxilplix Turbocharged February 18, 2014 Share February 18, 2014 You were lucky. Will be much worse if motorbike. Yeah a whole bunch of years ago some dude riding up to watch the motogp race in sepang hit/got hit by a lorry tire that fell of the back of a truck, although I can't find the post on the bike forums anymore (this was around 2005/2006 I think). He was doing about 180, got out of it relatively alright just a broken bone or two if I recall right. He was geared up but found out that an armoured mesh jacket won't hold up for long when you're sliding at those speeds, got some road rash where the jacket got abraded through. All in all pretty lucky.
Slyison 4th Gear February 19, 2014 Share February 19, 2014 Weather is extremely hot n dry these days.... Please drive carefully and do check your tyres when driving. Although I am not very pro in tyres issues, but I am sure all these bursting are caused by hot weather and if your tyres are properly maintained, good luck to you! Camrysfa Turbocharged January 16, 2015 Share January 16, 2015 (edited) 15/1/15 RIP to the victims, they were on the way to Genting. Hope it is not because driver was not concentrating on road. http://www.tnp.sg/news/eight-killed-after-bus-overturns-ipoh-malaysia-0 Eight dead after bus overturns and catches fire . The accident occurred on KM326 of the North-South expressway in the town of Tapah, Perak. The bus, belonging to LBS Travel and Tours, was making its way to Genting Highlands. It is believed that the bus struck a tyre on the road, causing the driver to lose control. It then collided with a car before overturning and bursting into flames. 2BDriver Hypersonic October 16, 2015 Share October 16, 2015 https://sg.news.yahoo.com/steel-object-damages-40-vehicles-103801632.html Steel object damages 40 vehiclesBy Kelly Koh | New Straits Times – 3 hours ago ALOR GAJAH: Some 40 motorists were left fuming by the highway when their vehicle tyres were punctured after hitting a steel object at KM212 of the North-South Expressway (NSE) here, yesterday. A police source said the motorists were heading north when they ran over what appeared to be a broken steel cover which was laid in the middle lane of the highway in the 10pm incident near Simpang Ampat here. The incident caused traffic to slow down along a 100m stretch at the affected area. “The collision caused damage to vehicles but no casualties were reported. "Action cannot be taken until we determine the culprit who left the steel object on the highway." he said. It is believed the object fell off a vehicle while being transported. He added that five reports had been lodged at the district police station so far. Alor Gajah district police chief Superintendent Muhammad Ismail Muhammad Yusuf when contacted, confirmed the incident. ↡ Advertisement
