No, not the fans but the players. There was this article in Mailonline I read yesterday but today cannot find , I had wanted to post but office IE kept hanging due to firewall. I'm sure I did not see wrongly, it was mentioned by the players themselves. Serious!

peeping tom? [laugh]

I also read about it but it was actually the fans. The players are focused on CL qualifications btw. And that's what Martinez promised Kenwright when he was appointed, "I will get this team to the Champions League"

Wanker once famously called him a voyeur.....

Actually I like the current situation that we have value for money players, when we do well, it feels special....if we were fulled by Russian or Arabian oil and have all the big star players, winning would be mandatory and wouldn't feel as much of an achievement. Of course I hope we are just a bit richer so that the whole salah episode would not have happened....but I don't envy the likes of chelski and shitty....

Come next season, we will attract big names players definitely. Like bees to honey!

I would be surprised if it was the players....they willing to sacrifice opportunity on the European stage for a local (Merseyside) rivalry? Many of them are not even from Merseyside - the rivalry is not even really THAT personal to them. Of course they know that it matters to the fans but to give up playing in UCL because of it? If I were them getting both Merseyside teams into UCL is more important. What a statement that would make fo Liverpool (the city).

I believe Mourinho is quietly admiring Liverpool. If only we are bankrolled by oil money like Chelsea or Man City, he would take up the manager's post for Liverpool. He feels that Liverpool cannot progress because of our budget constraint and keep on harping about that even when BR was appointed manager 2 years back. And if u remembered reading the interview when he was still in Madrid; why would someone from Spain even want to comment on Liverpool?

mourinho very whiny lah. even though i admire his statistics, he's really dislikeable

Boring but effective football to grind results. He is just a younger version of Capello.

i doubt most of them give a shit about rivalry. Haha everyone wants the same thing, european glory!

yeah his latest win over PSG demonstrates that.

Meticulous planning and really targets the opposition weaknesses.

Cos we are Spain football fans favourite English club.

Rafa bought so many Spanish players we looked like a Spanish club.

Alonso, Morientes, Nunez, Luis Garcis, Torres, Suso, Reina, Abaloa etc

When we fought AC Milan in 2005 bcos there was no more Spanish clubs

in the CL, Madrid and Barca fans supported Liverpool - also cos they din

want AC to win but they also wanted their Spanish players to do well.

Someone told me if you go holiday in Spain wear your Liverpool shirt

and the muggers in the street will leave you alone - try at your own risk.

It is not the player. The player that he mention said that he was surprise that some Everton fan told him.

Even if the player want to they won't say it out. If not they can be punish for match fixing

Mourinho is funny like that, although he is a winner

he behaves a loser. The only good thing is he shares

the same birthday as BR and he likes BR so much he

will never attack him.

Actually we are the world's most supported club because of our rich history with the likes of AC Milan, Barca and Madrid and I believe Mourinho was one of our fanboy too!

for a team like chelsea to say that we do well cos of no distraction, i'm sure pool will b willing to swop situations with them. n to say that UCL is making them lose out in the title race, it only says that either their team is not good enough, or they r not focused. chelsea n man c can at any time put out 2 teams strong enough to compete in the BPL.

You are right. We are one of the best known and supported clubs in the world.

Thats why we don't need oil money, the commercial revenue we could generate

is so hugh but was neglected for so many years. Stan chart gave us 80 million pounds

for a 4 year shirt deal. These are trhe kind of deals we should be going for.

Once we get back to the CL our commercial potential will just rocket.

Actually base on what he say, crystal palace should be challenging for title with us right now and not Chelsea or man city.

I'm sure Liverpool was one of the most-supported clubs in the world, but we have to admit that in the last 10 yr or so, clubs like Manu, Barca, RM, etc., had widened their fan base considerably, and coupled with their success domestically and in Europe, would probably have a bigger fan base then LFC.

Just a few days ago, there was an article that Manu was much more popular in Korea and China, and now Japan, because of the effects of Park Ji Sung, Dong, and now Kagawa. Can't find the report now, but it mentioned that a few seasons ago, when Manu was arranging a friendly in Korea, the K league rescheduled its matches to accommodate manu, but when LFC was trying to do the same, a couple of seasons ago, the K league felt it wasn't important enough so the whole trip was cancelled...

Barca and RM have of course been been helped tremendously by the popularity of Messi and Ronaldo, who for a number of years have been at their peak, and importantly been at the same club, so soccer fans who appreciate talent will support their clubs too. I remember that Stanchart after starting to sponsor LFC, had spent $$ doing up collaterals featuring prominently Torres, who was very good then, but had to quickly take them down and replace them when he left abruptly...

On Mou, he's a fella that you will like if he's on your side, but hate when he's not. I remember reading many years ago that when he left Porto, it was the time that both chelski and LFC were looking to replace their managers, and that LFC approached him first (because of his UCL success c.f. to Benitez's UEFA cup (albeit with La Liga titles), but he turned LFC down to go to chelski...

Hated him since [thumbsdown]

Why I say Liverpool is the most supported club is simply because despite our lack of success for 20+ years, apart from the CL triumph in 2005, we are one of the top 10 most supported club in the world. As for last season's BPL winner, their huge fan base is mainly because they have been triumphant all these while and the existence of the internet; and most of their new supporters are fair weather fans. How many can claim the accolade of supporting an average team who lacks success all these years? Playing in a much smaller capacity stadium and not having the financial muscle, we stand united in supporting Liverpool through thick and thin. Can our rivals attest to that if their clubs go downhill?
