Islamic Republic's soccer federation rules athletes to be subject to random checks following revelations of men secretly playing in league.

Soccer players in Iran's professional women's' league will be required to undergo mandatory gender tests to determine that they are fully female.
The Iranian soccer federation's ruling came in the wake of revelations that several leading players in the league were men who either had sexual development disorders or had not completed gender reassignment surgery.
Seven matches have been suspended due to the presence of women's league players, who wear full-body uniforms, with undetermined female sex, Iran's IRNA news agency last week cited Ahmad Hashemian, chairman of the federation's medical committee as saying.
According to a fatwa, an Islamic legal pronouncement, sex reassignment surgery is allowed in Iran.
Under the guidelines, medical examiners will arrive unannounced to training sessions to subject athletes to checks in order to establish their sex.
Examinations will also be given to players in the Islamic Republic's indoor league, along with prospective players before they sign to teams.
"If these people can solve their problems through surgery and be in a position to receive the necessary medical qualifications" then their participation in women's soccer clubs will be permitted, Hashemian told IRNA.
Those athletes without complete medical records designating them as female will be barred from the league.
The Iranian national team was disqualified from the 2012 London Olympics in light of their Islamic head coverings, which were required by the Islamic Republic, but did not meet FIFA guidelines that an individual's neck and ears must be visible.

Liverpool owner admits Suarez had £40m release clauseMajor force: Luis Suarez (Picture: Reuters)

Liverpool owner John W. Henry has sensationally claimed that Luis Suarez did have a £40million release clause in his contract last summer, but the club simply refused to sell to Arsenal anyway.

The Gunners made their infamous £40m plus £1 bid after being tipped off the Reds would be forced to accept all offers over £40m for Suarez, but Henry held firm.

Arsenal, and Suarezs agent, Pere Guardiola, eventually accepted there had been confusion over what the clause entitled them to with Liverpool insisting they just needed to inform the player of all offers over £40m.

But Henry has now seemingly admitted that the Reds simply refused to be held to ransom over the players contract after being burnt in the Fernando Torres deal.

Speaking at the Sloan Sports Analytics Conference over the weekend, Henry said, when asked how Suarez was potentially key to Liverpools future plans: Luis Suarez is the top scorer in the English Premier League, which is arguably the top soccer league in the world.

He had a buyout clause of £40m. Arsenal, one of our prime rivals this year were tied for second were actually second because of goal difference.

They offered £40m plus £1. What weve found is that contracts dont seem to mean a lot in England actually, in world football.

It doesnt matter how long a players contract is, he can decide hes leaving.

We sold a player, Fernando Torres, for £50m, that we did not want to sell, we were forced to.

Since apparently these contracts dont seem to hold, we took the position that were just not selling.

Its been great for Luis, its been great for us.

We have three gentlemen up front Suarez/Sterling/Sturridge, [they] are young, I think Luis and those three could be together for a long time.
