This is the reason: http://news.asiaone.com/News/AsiaOne+News/Singapore/Story/A1Story20110428-276009.html

Tanjong pagar was the only walkover ward last election.

he isn't even doing his BASIC job of an MP. I reckon a proud man like him will not shortchange is constituents

frankly, i attribute most above to Goh Keng Swee.

LKY is more of a spokeman for it.

the unsung hero....GKS!!!!!!

agree. too much credit given to LKY. yes he was a great visionary but he still needed foot soldier to do the job.

I agreed on him not doing his job, similarly for the PMs and those ministers with multiple roles, most of them only appear during festivals and not involved in day to day running as such are you going to say they are short changing? To me, he has done enough to be kept in the position and not by his own admission but to keep the seats he runs for the party. It is more of a political appointment than a physical. Those which can't even understand this simple logic have no rights to criticize him.

For me, I believe the money he takes is no longer important only petty minded people would think so. He has being giving talks and sharing his views to multiple avenues despite his retirement and I believe we will benefit from his sharing than him not giving any. I believe even at 90+ he speaks more sense than many clowns in this forum.

I cite an example Steve jobs brought apple back from a near bankruptcy, did he do everything? Why is everyone giving him all the credit?? It is the same here, yes he didn't do everything but he managed to assemble a team which did bring us to where we are.

Credit will be given to those which are due , I believed I honored everyone in the same manner nothing more nothing less. Don't shoot just because you wanna shoot, it is damn low class.dude I am not saying u but to the others

Mr Lee Kuan Yew still warded at SGH, closely monitored by doctors

By Fiona Chan

SINGAPORE - Former prime minister Lee Kuan Yew remains warded in the Intensive Care Unit at the Singapore General Hospital (SGH), according to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) on Thursday morning.
Mr Lee is still sedated and on mechanical ventilation, the statement said.

It added that Mr Lee's doctors have restarted him on antibiotics, and are continuing to monitor him closely.
Mr Lee, 91, was admitted to SGH on Feb 5 with severe pneumonia. The PMO had said on Saturday that his condition was stable, although he remained in intensive care.

On Wednesday night, rumours flew on social media that Mr Lee had died, but government sources told The Straits Times that these were untrue.

If as a leader he still need to do the job of foot soldier, he has fail as a leader.....

Not all people like him.... but at least give the man some respect and credit for what he (and our pioneer leaders) has done for our motherland....

Severe Pneumonia is never good, especially for the elderly. No matter how small a chance of recovery, let's wish him well.

We may not like his policies or political strategy, but as a person, it's just downright despicable to curse another to die. -_-

I have a deep-felt uneasiness on this....

Can't describe my feelings ....

In my heart, I hope he can get well.... but, in my mind, I know how diff it is for old ppl to recover....

Sigh ....

Anyway, don't think we should gloat over a man's illness, for this man contributed to where we are now....
