Why Singapore don't have such a car wash machine anymore?

In some other countries, eg Australia, the driver can go to "wash station" where the water jet, vacuum cleaner, and even hot-air-blower (for drying the car) can be operated by him using a coin-operated machine and then DIY the wash himself.

The coin machine charges him for every black of 10 or 15 mins use of the "wash station". The set-up is easy to maintained by the operator/owner and he doesn't have to worry about manual car wash workers don't show up for work or damage the customers' car coz its DIY.

Hope someone will try set up such "Wash Stations" here.

In countries where land/space is not so expensive then might b feasible.

here can u imagine how much we have to pay to use per 15 mins.

Most can find free water/hose at workplace carpark to quietly hide n wash during weekends when nobody around. [sly]

My dad used to go into this car wash when I was young.

I remember feeling scared cos it feels like a monster is swallowing us up and I worried the glass will break...LOL

After I got my license I only get to use it once before it disappears in sg

Damage to car can be an issue with the auto car-wash but I personally think the bottom line is cost - because manual labor + washing materials and cloth are much cheaper in SG than to pay for the electricity and water use of this giant machine.

No worries, the nearest UG water mains are never more than 1km away. Just pull an extension pipe from the mains and you can wash your cars. The commercial people who will setup these carwash points know how to get it done. Your as the user just pay and wash

The scratches that it caused on the car paint is horrible.

You need to experience it to understand how bad it is.

Singapore has plenty of these machines many many years back. The advantage is they are very quick in the wash and drying. 3 minutes and you get a washed and almost perfectly dried car. And it looks bloody fun.

But wait till you see the scratches on the paint coating. Many many fine hairlines all over the place. Crazy!

Ya true. I can see many circles hairlines on the car if you look closely.

I heard that there were many complaints of damages that is why they stop.

The cut was so deep as if it was cut by Ben-Hur's chariot wheel.

Technically, it was the character Messala's scythed chariot in the movie Ben Hur. :D

All our car wash used to be like that... at least 10 years ago... those car washes sucks... scratch the car, need to drive onto the rail, blow dry not dry enough, etc. so we started using handwash and it proved to be popular and possibly cheaper. Those machines break down often.

But still, it was fun and exciting going through the machine. HAha.
