Not sure, I almost never even use my set top box anymore. Pretty sure Starhub Smart TV (which I only used to use for HDD recording) needs the set top box to be connected to the fibre point.

I thought we were talking about Internet service and nothing else. Anyway I get everything I need online as I said, including the shows I consume. News etc. from YouTube and online streams. Just don't bother with the censored, restricted cable services in sg anymore. I just keep Starhub cable around for my parents to use as they want to watch some Indian Tamil programmes.

I am thinking of doing away with fiber. Linking whole house using the mobile data. Not sure is it workable.

Possible.

You can follow this:

Or if you're more tech savvy and want to preserve your phone battery life (important with non-replaceable batteries), use this guide to do USB tethering:

Get this type of 4G router with LAN ports can liao. https://shopee.sg/TP-LINK-Archer-MR6400-N300-3G-4G-LTE-Wireless-WiFi-Router-(with-Sim-Slot)-i.47414452.757916138

But please note that the unlimited data plan is not really unlimited. There is this fair usage policy that will throttle the data speed after certain threshold e.g to 1Mbps after 50GB for Singtel. https://www.singtel.com/content/dam/singtel/personal/products-services/mobile/add-ons/datax/pdf/DATA-X-Consolidated-TnCs.pdf

DATA X INFINITY is solely for personal and non-commercial use only. To ensure that the activities of some users do not impact the ability of other Customers to have access to reliable services, fair usage policy of 50GB above the plan allocated data bundle is applicable on DATA X INFINITY. (Example: Combo 12 customers will enjoy 12GB + 50 GB). When the monthly usage exceeds 50GB (over & above plan allocated data bundle), data speeds will be set at 1Mbps. Normal speed will resume 00:00 hours on your next billing cycle

Video streaming typically need about 3-5 Mbps.

I have a friend with 40 GB every month, always use at work and also use at home and always watch K drama also enough.

So if you have a 40 or 50 GB plan unless you are an extreme user I think its enough for one person.

Wah like this if everyone find their mobile plan enough they will all cancel their home broad band and all my shares in the local telco will go down.

Better don't tell people mobile enough in case they cancel BB.
