i have the old 100Mbps plan. Will upgrade to the 1GBps when available.

satisfied with the service. Not sure how it compares with the big 2 telco, but i rather give my money to new companies than ST or SH

1GBps is gimmicky IMO.

i dont think you will experience significant faster speeds than the typical 100mbps. But i rather pay $10-20 more and support new startups like myrepublic

rumours have it that other isp throttles BT speed at certain time of the day

not sure if it is true, though

They don't just throttle that. They throttle online video streaming too! At least this is what I SUSPECT in case they sue me [laugh]

Turbocharged

1gbps won't make any significant increase in speed in browsing Internet websites if you're already on 200mbps or lower. It's like eating buffet, no matter how much food I put on the table, your stomach can only eat so much. The only use for this plan is maybe your household got 10 over ppl using Internet and BitTorrenting at the same time.

I think this 1G broadband is only good if your PC/laptop is connected to your router wired. There isn't any WIFI can achieve this kind of speed practically at the moment. So you will be wasting most of your bandwidth.

I dunno about myrepublic, best to sniff around for reviews on their service in relation to what you want. I know myrepublic targets the gaming crowd in some of their marketing.

On viewqwest no problem with online video streaming, but part of their sell is their vpn service which allows me access to Netflix/hulu+ and other streaming services. So far i've had no problems at all with streaming movies on my tv at any time of the day even with shared usage (tv+tablet+desktop). But like I said, that's their selling point and they claim to even route connections to optimise streaming. Also my plan is 400mbps but I've seen ~570mpbs download speeds on my desktop (LAN cable) and about 70mpbs on my tablet (wifi).

few thoughts.

1. value for money. but i rather have lesser speed at a lower cost.

2. for surfing the bottleneck is seldom the bandwith but rather the speed of the overseas servers

3. to make maximum use of the speed, most would probably need to upgrade their equipment. but no matter what router you use, no way wireless will beat wired.
