Lala81 Hypersonic August 28, 2017 Share August 28, 2017 I guess fries would taste much better when deep fried. My air fryer is now another occupant on the unused appliance shelf. The appliances I used regularly is a pressure/slow electric cooker, Samsung 3-in-1 microwave/grill/convection oven and my favourite has to be the induction cooker. Microwave to heat up milk, melt butter or cook some rolled oats. Oven for me. I want to get a pressure slow cooker to quickly do soups but I don't have counter top space for now. Air fryer I passed to my BIL to use. ↡ Advertisement

Guess air fryer is a pretty useless device. Can't cook good tasting food, slow in cooking, probably use more power to cook the same food at a longer time and it becomes a white elephant for many people. Luckily I got mine as used one for free. Kusje Supersonic August 29, 2017 Share August 29, 2017 (edited) Thanks for the input. Do you incur higher electricity bills after using the air fryer? It seems that I have to cook longer in order to get the food cooked. Cooked raw fries for 15 mins but seems doesn't even feel crispy and some fries only the surface is very hot... Air fryer is about 1500W I believe. Using for 15 minutes at $0.22/kwh will cost you the following: Watts: 1500W Time: 15 mins or 1/4 hr Energy used: 1500W/4/1000= 0.375KWH Energy cost: 0.375KWH*$0.22=$0.0825 Conclusion? Don't worry your pretty little head about electricity cost Edited August 29, 2017 by Kusje

Actually a lot of people swear by it. It's quite fast to cook things. Just that the original model is too small.

Tried cooking 20 mins for the fries at 200 degrees. Hot outside but not crispy. Sighzzz
BrockAllen Clutched June 4, 2018 Share June 4, 2018 Picked one up not too long ago and it opened me up to new ways to cook bacon and brussel sprouts. I don't think I'll buy another when it breaks, though.

blusmart Neutral Newbie July 25, 2018 Share July 25, 2018 (edited) The air fryer not only reduces the fat intake of the food to a certain extent, but also is very convenient to use. Edited July 25, 2018 by blusmart
Kb27 Supersonic July 25, 2018 Share July 25, 2018 Air fryer is the same as convection oven. It uses a fan to blow over a heater. Nothing different, only the housing is much smaller. If you have a full oven, that's what it can do also.

If you have a full oven, that's what it can do also. I think nowadays no need to spend so much on an airfryer or a full size oven. My small oven from Mayer also come equipped with a fan function. I got it at a sale cost less dan the typical airfryer.
