Watwheels Supersonic January 15, 2014 Share January 15, 2014 In my personal view it's not professional. Can always wait at the lobby or at the restaurant or cafe or hawker center. If like that any Tom, Dick & harry can just walk into the office and steal data or information. Or worse steal handbags, wallet & smartphone. If I'm the boss I won't like ppl I don't know walking in & out of my office as they wish. No sense of security. ↡ Advertisement

For me, all other things being equal, if at all possible, I kinda like that my family knows the people I work with and is recognised by them. Certainly shouldn't be a free for all though
Adrianli Hypersonic January 15, 2014 Share January 15, 2014 I'd encourage wifey family to visit and say hi - maybe sit in reception or at an empty table depending on office culture and the nature of your work. HOWEVER - two hours is way too long...I'd say 10-20 minutes while you finish an urgent task or something is ok, but she should really aim to reach around the same time as your lunch starts. On a related note - does anybody take their kids to office during school holidays? I do this quite regularly - get them to help out with some simple office tasks as well as assign them homework, but mind you, ours is a very small office, very family orientated and when we bring our kid, the boss will also bring his daughters and have them all there together. My director do that. His older kids will be in the office during their international sch holidays. They will do some stuff for the director. Then the kids will also make cookies and sell it to us(employees), use the money and donate to the charities, usually third world countries. Me no eat cookies, so I just donate. My director will then email everyone who donated where the money went. Also the kids will make christmas cards by hand for everyone and the director will hand it to everyone personally. Very nice. I usually ask my wife to wait for me at the bus stop near my office and we have lunch together. If I visit her, I wait for her at the hawker centre and chopping seats for her and her colleagues. My office building need to change pass for strangers. So avoid the hassle, just wait nearby.
Kangadrool Supersonic January 15, 2014 Share January 15, 2014 Under MOM rules & regulations, you are not allow cos should any accidents to be happen (touch wood), Who Will Be Responsible For The Injuries? Insurance 100% will not cover as the kid is not an office staff. One has to take safety into aspect if one to bring a kids to office. A very simply injury could be hot coffee/tea spill onto the child whilst he/she is playing at your colleague's table. The child could get 1st degree burn although not life threatening. Other examples are touching of machines and get cut, knock onto table corners, slip whilst running in office or floor wet..... In big companies, MOM advise them to have a child care centre where the parent could leave them there and work peacefully. This child care run by private company and is engaged to look after childs. My advise, don't bring them to office and furthermore not your own child. the paper schredder comes to my mind......

If he do, is only 1 person do. If other staff do, it could be 40 people do. If 40 spouse come sit in the reception area for 2 hours everyday, what does the office become? Nzy Twincharged January 15, 2014 Share January 15, 2014 My mum used to bring me to her office during the school holidays. Cuz she can watch me do my homework and after I am done she let me watch TV while I wait for her to finish her work. Now I also bring my son to office during the school holidays especially on those days when I am planning to bring him out and only going to office for a while to settle some urgent matters. SLSAMG88 1st Gear January 16, 2014 Share January 16, 2014 I personally hate people who bring their wives/kids into the office. Office is office, home is home - otherwise why not the whole office goto your home, see if you like that! ↡ Advertisement
