Knoobie Supercharged January 7, 2014 Share January 7, 2014 Those installing the IP cameras do remember to change the default admin password.. It is very easy to detect such devices on the internet and access to it using the default password.. Unless you like the concept of living in a glass house. Crashburner 3rd Gear January 7, 2014 Share January 7, 2014 Is IP cam better or those CCTV better, for such home surveillance ? IP cam is a quick and cheap way of having home surveillance. If you want to have 24 hrs recording, you need to have a PC switched on and a huge disk space. You will also be restricted to positions near powerpoint for your IP camera. Thus, you may not be able to capture the space area that you want. I installed IP camera at my place and tbh, unless you got some tech knowledge, setting it via IP addresses is a pain if you want to view it using your mobile. But i think the new cloud cameras would resolve this as most would be compatible with the DLINK mobile app.

Ben5266 Supercharged January 7, 2014 Share January 7, 2014 Me also intalling for maid monitoring...need 8 cameras to cover every inch... cand view on iphone and record via motion detection If you need 8 cameras with recording, IP camera is not for you. Better go for the trusted, more reliable DVR+CCTV using coax cables. Then, connect the DVR to the internet for viewing using iPhone. Cloud...? You won't know anyone is viewing you....
Kklee 6th Gear January 7, 2014 Share January 7, 2014 Me also intalling for maid monitoring...need 8 cameras to cover every inch... cand view on iphone and record via motion detection Do take into consideration of the points below for DLink DCS-930L 1) narrow FOV 2) MJPEG - will consume a lot of the mobile data if there are a lot of viewing 3) motion detection recording to FTP as individual images. Imagine it as e.g. 1 sec 1 image. How many images you will get? 4) the D-ViewCam may be able to record video - didn't manage to get it to work on Vista Home 5) good feature of having one way sound and able to turn off LED 6) cheap and good after sales
