This is weird. Isn't it cheaper and easier just to drive the car away

 

Depends on the dealer. I know quite alot of dealers who also tow the cars away. They have connections with these tow truck drivers and get cheaper rates ma. More worth it to tow cuz it saves them time also.

But seriously, the dealer damn not steady. Collect + drive or tow, should also at least arrange with your friend. Sounds like he no appointment just go since ur fren was surprised and not even there to pass keys. Or maybe he did tell ur fren he going and he supposed to collect the keys from someone at home? But still he should say he intend to tow

 

There might be some other reasons.
One example,my fren sold his car to a dealer,not very sure if the agent was going to scrap it or export.
The dealer was supposed to go to my fren hse to collect the car n drove it away.
But he asked a tow truck to tow.
How did my fren know? His neighbors called him and telling him that his car was towed away.
By the time he went home,almost all neighbours knows.
He damn Malu n dulan,called up the dealer n dark him upside down.
