Marina Coastal Expressway (MCE)

Actually I didn't know that ppl exit central blvd to continue to MCE(AYE). Today dan I know after reading the LTA tweet. Anyway I followed the overhead road signs and kept right all the way which I think was clear enough.

I think the exit to avoid is the west to east bound exit to MBFC. After the Keppel viaduct it's one lane expand to 2 lanes but still it has a queue even at night. Can't imagine morning peak hour.

Give it time. Once ppl are familiar hopefully the traffic conditions will be smoother.

So those comments earlier say planners c0ckup and not admitting to their mistake is actually ppl took the wrong exit thinking they must exit the MBFC exit in order to continue to AYE.

More clear and well located signages (not placed just before the exits, but at least repeatedly place well ahead) will help. Ppl have no landmarks in tunnel to orientate themselves, signages are their only guides.

If you live in Bedok, continue on MCE to KPE and exit towards PIE Changi.

If you live in Marine Parade, then exit to ECP. But can exit Fort Road and head towards East Coast Road.

Even if you live in Tampines and Pasir Ris, stay on MCE-KPE and exit Bartley East.

Think of alternatives and use Onemap.sg to plot the routes. It's a personal productivity improvement and not stuck in the mud thinking.

your logic for the marine parade residents does not make sense. to exit fort road, you will be stuck in the same jam as those trying to exit to ecp. since you are already there, might as well then use ecp all the way till marine parade exit. much faster than exiting fort road then use normal roads to reach marine parade.

I still can't imagine if there's a fender bender or major collision in the tunnel. Prepare an empty bottle for urination and black plastic bag for sh!t.

This is no joking matter, seriously users must be well prepared for such a scenario.

Drivers in Bangkok are known to carry pee-pots/bags in their car. Or at least drill a drainhole in the car plus keeping a rubber tube-link to driver/passengers' kkj. Female version is also available in hospital ward for bedridden lady patients, just buy from pharmacies.

Given the high volume traffic in the tunnel, the screen can also flash advertisements and generate revenue through adverts more than cover the costs of the screen!!

Come on now!

Let people set up sarabat stalls by the side lah... Enough of these multi million dollar types already.....

This is a east-bound MCE video. Forward to 11:25. There seems to be an exit which was originally planned but scrapped. I believe this is the exit to Benjamin Sheares Bridge towards Sheares Avenue. If this exit were to be open, then ppl from the west can actually use this to exit Rochor/Suntec/Beach Road area without bottlenecking at Central Boulevard exit.

the one in red mean its a U turn back to east side, going to changi airport?

It means from KPE (coming from hougang) will end with 3 routes -

1) ECP (Changi) - going to airport

2) Sheares Ave (Benjamin Sheares Bridge) - going to Rochor, Suntec, Beach Road, Marina Square, MBS.

3) MCE (AYE) - going into MCE towards AYE.

Plus toilet paper don't forget.

Haven't tried driving through but all the hype, b!tching about traffic flow, details about different routes makes it seem like it will be such an event when I finally go. A bit of a psychological battle in my head now, don't quite know how to put it. Like first time SOC.

I still can't imagine if there's a fender bender or major collision in the tunnel. Prepare an empty bottle for urination and black plastic bag for sh!t.

If the design is good, it does not need to require the drivers to take a long time to design. If its a f**k up design..well it will be.

Some pointers;

1) If it is not ready, PLEASE DO NOT ESTABLISH IT OR OPEN IT. You are just making a bigger fool of yourself (In fact, the LTA is big joke as of now)

2) Run parallel trial. Common sense will tell you. My god...who are the people the government paying too? Solely ball carriers and "yes-man"?

3) Mainly signage not up and proper. Back to point 1

4) GIVE THE REAL REASON WHY MCE IS BUILT. STATE IT IN SHIT TIMES. (most of the 60.1% read it) If it is to elevate traffic issues, aren't we able to built double or triple decker expressways instead dig here dig there?

Since traffic jam gona be so bad.....how about setting up a beverage stall ($2 for kopi guo) and portable toilet stall ($1 per entry) along the MCE to earn some $$$?

Perhaps LTA should issue all drivers maps on the MCE tunnel, entrances/exits. If constructions of some entrances/exits still on going at least put up the date of completion etc. Most drivers herd up to the same exit and cause congestion on the first few days is really crazy. Really, dunno what to say.

For those using Garmin GPS, MalSingMaps have updated the map with MCE. I've not tried it yet so use at your own risk.......tomorrow I'll be trying it then.....

Once you have driven the route a few times you shouldn't need signs, it will then be a case of sign overload if they put more in. And if drivers pre-empted what lanes they should be in suitably ahead of time then a lot of issues of jams and congestions could be minimised.

Unless the navigation has the simulation mode when there's no signal in the tunnels it will be useful, else it's as good as not using.
