seems that the Ophir Road gantry is no more reflected in the LTA My Transport App.

Could it be part of history, though the physical gantry is still there?

the gantry is not at Ophir road, it is a new gantry erected on sheares bridge.

The government has always pride itself for many number one's - after spending $4.3B, now we have the deepest, widest, smoothest (surface, not traffic) and of course most expensive underwater carpark in the world!

Beat that, China!

Worse was that the Fort Road exit was jammed. Resulting effect was that only 1 lane was left for cars going on to ECP.

The Fort Road congestion was all the way to Nicoll Highway junction. I suspect many motorists missed the exit heading to CBD, and tried to use the Fort Road exit to get back into town.

Our expressways design are very bad for getting traffic off it. So you always get backup into expressways.

Look at CTE exit to Balestier Road. There is NO traffic light to allow cars to get out at Balestier Rd junction.

During heavy traffic, it will backup into CTE.

Thanks to all the great scholars at LTA.

The problem is that there are more roads/slipways to come, but they couldn't complete these until the old ECP was shut. LTA noted this in the lead up but this I guess was ignored. Namely Maxwell Rd onto MCE will come in 3 to 6 months, but hard to build it beforehand as the old ECP was in the way. So the lead up work is done, they just need to demolish the old ECP so cars can actually use it. So the other exits are being over-utilised.

But all in all they changed a heap of roads all at once on a very busy route. To have a smooth transition is going to be very hard unless you have everyone read the instructions beforehand. Case of point was Fort Rd. Everyone used to turning right, so turning left for CBD feels just plain weird.

this is called POOR CHANGE MANAGEMENT - they didn't do enough work to ensure drivers understood before they implement the changes.

1. Poor, inadequate design

2. Poor, inadequate, misleading signage

3. Poor, near-non-existent pre-opening education/familiarisations

4. Despite the above, charging users ERP for such half-baked road system

5. So far, no sign of any form of accountability of above failures

Enough said

A trial period of a few weeks would have been a better arrangement for detecting faults and fixing them before actual operation. No rocket science is needed.

I read the notices and understood what to do well before it opened. Do we need to provide grade school type lessons which require attendance any time road changes are made?

Did you read the notices ahead of the opening made by the LTA? Here's a link to one made on Nov 13: http://app.lta.gov.sg/apps/news/page.aspx?c=2&id=423506b1-f4f6-4631-a50e-c5560cf5d2c1

They said it isn't finished. I can see from my office window that it isn't finished. Most of the faults are due to drivers not preparing themselves ahead, and by expectations being too high for an unfinished product. Give it time.

Instead of improving the road condition after spending billions, they create a bottom neck. Then how to solve this put more ERP gantry. Downtown line test and test still got problem

My dearest who does not know driving, commented during orientation drive on 29th....

1. Wah so many cars, so squeezy, something happen how?

2. The signs are tiny and Difficult to see.

3. Under the ocean? Where are all the fish? We should be able to see the fish.

Gotta love her.

travel time actually 5 to 10 minutes more out from fort road.

Return trip easier.

The older route more fun and had good view, enjoyable.

Now just defensive driving all the way.

Front back side, check speed. Repeat. Sian.

MCE from ECP/KPE to AYE direction - Nice, even road surface on rightmost lane. Well done.

MCE from AYE to ECP/KPE direction - Noticeable bumps on rightmost lane. I'm still wondering what LTA's QC department is doing, different contractor on each side issit?

KPE - Still a piece of bumpy crap and the opening of the MCE highlights this even more.

You have to be kidding. Do the bumps make you car sick? Honestly this is digging at the bottom of the well to find complaints.

Ok, then why charge users when it's not ready???

That wasn't a good move. They really could have done a honeymoon period (if only for this week) to allow drivers to get familiar with the new changes. Would have achieved some goodwill.
